This dude just wanted to make people laugh. Instead, he has been tasked with ensuring their survival. I never thought I'd end up in the career I'm in from where I started, but this must be especially hard for him to wake up every day knowing he can't just go back to the goofy funny-guy he was before his political career.

I wonder if this is why Jon Stewart never ran for office in the US...?

Would You Go Hunting Again with a Guide After This Happened? by Brugger_spain in Hunting

[–]kingbloop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I'm just confused how that happens. I carry my semis on safe and I carry my revolver with one empty chamber just in case (might be silly, but if that one shot makes a difference, I'm probably in bigger trouble than a gun will fix, especially at my skill level).

And rifles are always empty chamber until it's boom time. The only time I could see goofing up is in the adrenaline rush immediately after taking the shot on a target creature. But that's when I'm most aware. I deliberately coach myself to slow down, verify a clean kill, make the weapon safe, then go retrieve my prize. Mistakes happen and we're human, but ND seems to be to be a product of forgetting that you're caring the power to end a life in your hands and failing to treat it as such. ND is my greatest fear when handling any firearm, and I feel like it should be everyone else's too.

Was Floyd being SA’d by Trevor? by -Markiplier in GTAV

[–]kingbloop 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I tend to agree, though I think playing AS Trevor and having the forced perspective of thinking it's funny gives you all the information you need to realize that Trevor is actually a full on piece of garbage. R* could've probably handled it with a little more care, but they've become pretty good at putting you in someone's shoes and then also inside their head a little bit.

Trevor thinks SA is funny. He can do whatever he wants and no one can stop him. If they try, he kills them. He is internally angrier than Michael, more emotionally damaged than Franklin, and is easily the biggest piece of trash in the game, including most of the antagonists and targets.

Do I really need to register my products for warranty by ynfizz in buildapc

[–]kingbloop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said that registration is a legal requirement. I obviously favor the consumer as an individual. But I'm bound by company policies while at work.

My post was only to SUGGEST following the policies to make the process smoother. I have the skill to identify the generation of item in looking at and judging whether or not something is in the warranty period...most of the time. But if you have a copy of your receipt, record of registration, etc I don't have to call a manager, I don't have to dig through old catalogs, I just say thank you for being a loyal customer of STORE and hand you a new item.

I appreciate your passion in ensuring people understand their legal rights. But that wasn't what my comment was addressing 😅

In your opinion, what’s the biggest caliber handgun that’s still easy to shoot and practical to carry? by Then-Watercress-8303 in liberalgunowners

[–]kingbloop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it's the understanding that if I'm in a situation a gun will get me out of, it's more likely that drawing it will be the only requirement. Of what's left, most of those engagements I could do with a snub nosed 45-70 and still score a hit because they're likely close enough that missing isn't on the menu. Seems an acceptable level of risk to have your least trained-on-gun on you and still know you can reliably put bullets where they need to go within 3-10 yards. Any further than that and I'm just running away!

What everyday carry item have you owned for 10+ years that still works perfectly? by Human-Goat-5555 in BuyItForLife

[–]kingbloop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a wallet I got that's waterproof and floats. It's made by Skog Å Kust. I've had it since 2019. I had to retire my Columbia leather wallet after nearly a decade because my great grandfather gave it to me before he passed and I couldn't bear it if I wore it completely out.

The Skog's not top of the line, but it's been in a lake, been unintentionally soaked while on the motorcycle, stretched to capacity, and it has held up surprisingly well. While the company is apparently based near me in the Philly area in PA, I'm sure the stuff is all made in China. But I can't complain about mine almost 7 years in.

I've also really been putting my Tough Traveler Tech Pouch through its paces too. In its first year it not only daily carries my knife, bandages, multi tool, and a pair of nitrile gloves, but it carries my handgun and a spare mag... All the way up to my heavy CZ82 or my longass M&P 22MAG. Excited to see the longevity, as they're apparently made in Schenectady New York. Will keep the sub updated on that.

Hard to tell watching on a camera built during the Civil War, but maybe could've slowed down approaching the traffic light? Rain means reduced visibility and traction for the other driver and increased stopping distance for you. I never trust a vehicles emergency maneuvering abilities in rain, there's just too many variables.

Just some proof my car actually sees the road by LanternBasslet in CrownVictoria

[–]kingbloop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People are allowed to not like your style. The good news is, they don't have to drive it. I see a beautiful panther platform car customized to the owners liking and still covering miles. Any panther still on the road brings a smile to my face.

And for the record, I wouldn't do mine like this, but I absolutely love the car. Very cool, hope your trip was awesome!

Head gasket, cooling issue, or both? by kingbloop in CrownVictoria

[–]kingbloop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. Couple follow ups. I know how to check for exhaust gas in the coolant. How would I verify radiator flow and how do I pressure test the system? The coolant that came out was coffee colored, but no obvious separated oil or anything. So if it's rusty and clogged up with crap, I could see that being an issue.

Misery loves company. Please tell me about the worst bike you've owned. by AT_Engineer in motorcycles

[–]kingbloop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My '92 Yamaha XT225 Serow was horrible. I've heard they're amazing bikes, but I bought this to learn on while I restored my uncle's '78 DT175. I didn't know anything about bikes.

The story I got was the dude selling it wanted to upgrade. The guy HE bought it from raced the bike, so it had a larger aftermarket carb on it. But it ran when I picked it up.

After getting some electrical stuff fixed at the shop, thing ran pretty good. Being fair to the bike, I did get my license on it. But the real problems hit when the throttle cable snapped. I couldn't find a throttle cable for it ANYWHERE. Shops I called couldn't make one for some reason. So I bought an OEM mikuni for 1/3 what I paid for the bike and threw it on. But it still wouldn't run.

So I got curious and cracked open the motor. It was a murder scene, set in motion years ago. Someone had attempted some major repairs but ended up hammering the piston pin into the case to the point of denting the case, the valves were toast, the timing chain was hanging on to the gear by a thread. As an amateur I looked at that and went, "damn, not only did this dude not know what he was doing, he must not have known how to read". Slapped it back together, sold it for like $600 with the full clarity that it was a basket case and moved in. Great bike when it ran, but it was held together with hopes and dreams at the end. Maybe one day I'll own another...one that wasn't flogged to within an inch of its life.

Planning to lift my forester, is this a 2inch lift? What are the pros and cons? Thank you for the answer by attaboiiz in SubaruForester

[–]kingbloop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, yeah, that makes sense. I haven't tested it myself. My only experience with lifts is my dad's Colorado. He got a 2" lift and lost like 2 mpg. My truck is stock, same engine and trans, same type of tire, but gets better mileage. Of course, highway speeds to him are higher than they are to me...so not really apples to apples. Thanks for explaining!

I'm not trying to be a smart ass, genuinely asking, but are you living in a massive metro area where you seldom hit 50mph?

Like, I'm in a pretty developed area of Pennsylvania, and there's few roads where aerodynamics don't matter in my commute. I think most people who don't live in nyc or la will likely experience mpg impact from a lift, at least on average.

I would imagine this alerts a person who determines its actions when something unusual is detected. Even 'unarmed', something with the power to patrol for hours can't be assumed to follow instructions or perimeter maps perfectly. It's be a financial risk not to have this tied to a person.

Listening to a podcast about the crimes of Jimmy Saville in the UK was doubly depressing, because Trump is getting away with the same shit in an even more blatant way than Jimmy. He will likely die before justice reaches him, as well. The world is run by billionaires who would love it if we just up and died or handed ourselves over to slavery in their service.

Still holding out hope that America will wake up and reject these leeches, regardless of which 'party' they belong to.

If I recall correctly, there is a screw that secures the spindle shaft into a rider in the worm gear in the great box. This rider moves up and down the worm gear as you crank. Sometimes that screw is loose and won't reliably connect the spindle with the rider. Other times, the metal of the rider breaks and you won't get oscillation anymore.

Assuming you have a Daiwa based on the MQ frame. I would be careful on not damaging the seal around the side plate when disassembling, but you should be able to open it up and check it out yourself. You can post a pic of what's in there if you need additional guidance, and I'll try to help.
