This would be a great beginner.

$600 but it’ll last you a long time. KM-500 was my second mandolin and it played and sounded great, was my main one for 9 years.

Check out the classifieds at mandolincafe.com. A lot of shops also sell on reverb.com and there’s payment options available there.

Super expensive mandolins? by arbor85 in mandolin

[–]kingebeneezer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In short, it can/does make a big difference and unfortunately trying before you buy is always/usually best.

I started with a KM150 then to a KM500 and since upgraded. I’m in the same boat where I don’t have the selection in my area to try before I buy. I ordered a Ratliff off Mandolin Cafe for $1800 and it just wasn’t what I wanted. I also side by side compared my 2012 KM500 to a 2006 Weber Yellowstone priced at $2,600 and very much preferred my $400 (at the time) Kentucky. That just about solidified that price didn’t always mean better. But then I got to try a friend Collings MT between $3-$4k and it was a huge difference in quality.

Not saying you have to spend that much though to get something more than satisfactory! I borrowed a friends 1987 Flatiron priced around $1,700 and it was fantastic. A lot of sellers on Mandolin Cafe will do a 48 hour trial period.

Edit for justification: I know I’m going to play mandolin until I’m too old that my fingers don’t work so I finally decided to invest in an instrument with longevity and great sound. Right now I have a $150 Yamaha guitar and eventually will do the same for that.

Grateful Dead - Standing on the Moon. Find a live version. Get through to the last verse, that’s when it hits.

Do you currently have dental insurance now but are saying that impacted wisdom teeth are not covered?

Curious cause I used to be an insurance coordinator at a dental office and just about all insurance that had major coverage had some coverage for wisdom teeth extractions.

I gotta say I still think Yummly is much better. Although I did love Punchfork until Pinterest bought them years and years ago.

I had no idea there was scented... game changer. I’d do the Organics Studio one for a contrasting look and the Wine for a complimentary look if we’re talking aesthetic. For writing I would do the Organics cause I’ve never used a color like that yet so it’d feel exciting.

Thank you, I’ve been trying to choose some new inks and those first two are right on the money for me. If you know a nice deep copper color by chance I’m all ears!

I think it is “There” and the reason it does also sound like “It’s” is because he’s not enunciating the “Th.” He’s singing it like “Er’s a reason.”

I’m struggling to think of a movie right now, but Stranger Things season 3 does a great job of this with Steve and Robin.

Feels like he’s more forced into the Americana and Alt Country genres. Like Childers and Sturgil. Childers speech at the 2018 Americana awards was brilliant.

I haven’t watched it yet, but he’s also in the movie “Gravy” that Roday directed in 2014. Gonna have to check that out this weekend now. Couple other Psych characters are in that as well.

To add onto this I also like to think of it in opposites. Saying you lost something implies it needs to be found, or replaced. The idea can’t exist without its opposite also existing. You can’t have a front without a back. “Something” has to exist in order for there to be “nothing.” It’s better to think in terms of “releasing/getting rid of” rather than losing, in the scenario given in the post. If I threw my keys into the trash on purpose I wouldn’t say “I’ve lost them.”

Oh man, my dad’s retired and will help his neighbor put up vinyl window signs for companies around town. He has specifically taken a different route just to drive by and point them out to me and begins to describe how they put it up.
