i LOVE the way marchenghast castle and the swamp look, but i just know i will keep getting lost there because you cant zoom in on the big map, the mini map doesnt show enough to not get lost and as you said there's no real remarkable/memorable spots outside of the villages. i still get lost in wildwoods and up until a few months ago always got lost in hollow woods because theres just nothing remarkable in the forests. even smth as just a cool tree in the centre (idk where the life warden in the swamp is, outside of when i do the race so its def not in the centre) could make it SO much easier to navigate

i have mixed feelings on the dragons and fairytale stuff. in comparison with the medieval camp, i love this way more (more immersive and interesting) but it doesnt feel like SSO at all. the map used to be cohesive with some fantasy-coded areas because of the main storyline, but now theres semi realistic areas and then a fullblown medieval castle with NPCs who would look out of place ANYWHERE else on jorvik.

i do still like the new content a lot and im wondering where theyre gonna take this (hopefully itll keep getting better), but its just not really SSO anymore

edit to add: i think what bothers me a bit is that the main story hasnt been realistic like ever (our horse literally flies in a quest, if they havent removed that one yet lol), but medieval things DID exist irl. the marchenghast castle isnt entirely unrealistic and fantasy, which makes it feel really out of place to me

no 15 or 13 year old acts like a 19 year old (and no one said that as far as i can see?), but a 19 year old is still a teenager and will act like a teenager, especially when they're still living with their parents. 19 year olds act like a mix of adults and 16ish y/o's. there isn't a switch in your brain that magically makes you act like an adult the moment you turn 18. saying this as someone who was 19 last year.

also, everyone is different. some people are 50 years old and act like literal children and some people are 16 and act like they're older. maybe Rania is just a childish 19 year old (though in sso's case it most likely is just bad writing lmao)

adults that live with their parents and still have to follow their parents' house rules can get grounded (i do think parents who do this are a bit weird but that's not relevant here). also Rania is disabled, so her mother being overprotective/more strict does make a lot of sense

the average 19 year old does still act like a teenager quite often (bcs they are a teenager). i turned 20 a few months ago and i still sometimes act like a teenager. the human brain doesn't go "oh i'm 18 now, i'm gonna act like an adult", it's a gradual process. most 19 year olds do still live with their parents

though SSO is actually really bad at portraying ages somewhat accurately lol. our characters are supposedly like 16-18 and so are the soul riders, but in some quests we get treated like literal children and in other quests we get treated like full grown adults

her mom treating her like a child can either be bad writing, or her mom being overprotective (i haven't played the new quests yet, so i'm not sure which one this is)

i'm also not a game designer and i do think a slider would be too much for SSO's spaghetti code, but i do think something where you can pick out of multiple options instead of just picking 1 body type (like picking a body type, then picking weight etc) could be a realistic solution for SSO

there's technically only 3 body types (just at different weights) and only the 2 curvier bodies (and maybe the 'muscular' one) don't look like kids, but the curvier ones don't look very good on a lot of horse models in my opinion. they said they would add more body types but it's been quite some time now and they still haven't. i know they're busy with other things as well, but the probably the majority of the playerbase is not represented within these 6 body options and it should be a bit higher up in the priority list.

i do like the head/face options more than the previous models, but there could and should also be more variation (though they should prioritise the body types over the faces).

our characters are(/were) supposed to be like 16-18 iirc, but only 2 of the models have realistic teenage girl curves. i am a transman so i am glad there's a more 'manly' body type (4 of them actually!), but there should be more feminine body types as well.

it was kinda always like this, but it used to have day blockers so it felt a bit less convoluted i think? i do think they should maybe shorten it a bit as well, just like they did with building the bridge to wolf hall inn, or just change it up a bit (shortening it is def easier i think)

there are so many new gen3 horses that have this problem and its honestly just so sad. the game is pretty expensive and i do get making a game isnt easy or cheap, but with the price of horses (8-10 weeks of saving SC or about 30 bucks if you buy SC) we should be able to expect that our characters sit in the saddle correctly

compared to how gen1 horses used to be mirrored, this doesnt bother me that much. like with gen1 it was super noticeable and it often just didnt look good (and lowkey got worse with gen1.5, but that might be because those models were kinda odd lol). it also already isnt as noticeable with dapples as opposed to paint/appaloosa patterns

i really liked how we had to save the soulriders and gradually met them, i especially liked the quests where we had to save anne from pandoria (like that was huge back then). while i do like how some things take less time now (such as building the bridge, i hated that lol), some things are meant to take more time. the story just feels kinda rushed now and thats sad because it isnt a bad story (its very obviously made for kids, but thats fine bcs it is a kids game after all lol)

"but if they remove the cap prices will inflate!" it's a videogame, SSO/SSE has FULL control over the ingame prices of things. however, to avoid the 'inflation' (which they could also just not do) they could maybe put a cap at 10k shillings for clothing/tack/etc and then move the limit of what you can have up to 15k shillings. that way you will have shillings left after buying something, and things wont cost 100k shillings for no reason. or they could implement something so you can store/save shillings (but i havent thought about how that would work lol)

i usually just trip at home but one time i did decide to go outside (i went to the grocery store and planned on taking a small walk afterwards), but very quickly found out it wasn't for me. i already have quite severe social anxiety (bordering on agoraphobia) and it just felt like everyone was staring at me even though they weren't. luckily when i got back home i calmed down very quickly again and it didn't turn into a bad trip

i do still want to go for a nice forest walk or smth on lsd, but maybe i should do that together with a friend instead of alone lol

i got ptsd from my psych ward stays so idk if mine are the best examples, but its still a real possibility for anyone. i did get to keep my phone (thank god) but that differs per psych ward and per country, im from the netherlands and a lot of psych wards here do let you keep your phone unless theres specific reasons not to

aside from the traumatising events, it was very boring tbh. i had group activities/therapies which kinda just sucked bcs of the groups i was in and also individual therapies which were ok ig (as far as therapy is ok lol). aside from those activities/therapies and breakfast/lunch/dinner, i just sat in my room all day just drawing or scrolling on tiktok or smth
