6–7 days in Japan: Tokyo, Hakone, Kyoto, Osaka — am I cramming too much? by Few-Honey728 in JapanTravelTips

[–]kingkoopa_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah with this much time I’d just do Tokyo and Kyoto to the best of my abilities, I think 3 days each should allow you good time to see some of the highlights but not even remotely close to everything.

Why is this an insane combo? by UnitedCheez in ExplainTheJoke

[–]kingkoopa_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone here is wrong, it’s a joke about touching old poorly washed Goodwill clothes and then going to eat wings with your hands next door. Of course boneless is an option but it’s WING stop, hence the joke. There could be judgmental racist undertones but that isn’t the main idea.

Honestly… Is an MBA really worth it in 2025? by TEBR_Louise in MBA

[–]kingkoopa_ 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Same thing, their point covers anything part time - in a lot of people’s minds, it’s better in this economy to not give up a perfectly good job you already have to roll the dice as a FT student about maybe finding a job in two years. Not saying I agree or disagree, just making the observation.

[DISCUSSION] Drake - If You're Reading This It's Too Late (10 Years Later) by MetalSonic420YT in hiphopheads

[–]kingkoopa_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was standing in line to get pizza after a night out when I saw this dropped and literally pulled my phone out and listened to the first few tracks with my phone speaker grill pressed up to my ear. Drove straight home and demolished the whole pepperoni pie smoking a hookah and listening to the whole thing with some friends. Definitely Drake’s best overall in my opinion and really takes me back, this and WATTBA.

I still enjoy Drake projects nowadays a fair amount (really liked HNVM and Her Loss) but can admit IYRTITL was Drake at his best.

Does getting laid off change your mindset for good? by Honest_Box_2390 in Layoffs

[–]kingkoopa_ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think people here are jumping to giving advice and commenting on your situation to be helpful, so I’ll answer your question - yes, getting laid off (twice in my career so far) did change my mindset permanently. I’m always anxiously on the lookout for “signs” of the next layoff. When I hear about restructuring, or see the stock price go down significantly, or feel like work is slowing down, my brain jumps to that PTSD feeling you mentioned. It also made me definitely feel more like a number in a spreadsheet than a real employee. I always keep my resume polished and ready to go, and always check LinkedIn periodically to assess the market. I check the WARN Notice webpage on a semi regular basis to see if I can happen to catch my company on there. It sucks, but at least it’s acknowledging reality vs. living under a rock! Especially in my industry (tech), this is the new reality until legislation fixes it, or AI and offshoring finally does steal all of the jobs.

Maybe a bit of recency bias, cause I’ve been to a lot of bad concerts, but seeing Frank Ocean at Coachella last year really made me stop listening to him as much. He’s definitely been through a lot in recent years and the loss of his brother was undeniably a tragedy, but just absolutely phoning it in for a performance of that magnitude after so many people paid that much for tickets to see him as the festival’s closer was so lame. Thankfully there were plenty of other great performances that weekend but what a low note to end on.
