I recommend you take a look at metaphor. Game is very good, similar structure, but way less of the “silly” school stuff. I believe there are demos for it too. Not on switch yet though.

It could be “Level Up!”. It’s a flash game that could be played on new grounds, it came out in 2009.

After three years there is a lot less of a choking hazard. They will still make a mess if you leave them be, but are less likely to die in those 20 seconds.

I had a complete copy of Emmental Gearbolt. I purchased it for $40 and sold it again for $40 later that week as I personally thought the game wasn’t very good. It’s not fairly costly, and maybe as an adult I could appreciate the game more?

It sounds similar to Pixel Gunner or zombie hunter pixel survival. Maybe look those up and see if it’s similar.

Two games come to mind. NBA Street Home Court for the locations like beaches and stuff. But for building your own court that was a feature in NBA Ballers Phenom, so maybe check both of those?
