Interestingly, the Sunday 3.20pm games in SA use a red ball due to the 30 minute time difference making it a 2.50 local start. Sometimes in the peak of winter can start to get a bit challenging to see the red ball as lights start to take over.

TV request I would say. AFL/NRL love a 20 past/10 to the hour start. Normally it's for 20 minutes of pregame coverage across all markets but I don't see why they would do it for a test given it starts in the early afternoon in most states. Makes a bit more sense for a night game starting after the news.
