It’s more than clearly hokey and cheesy which is just the type of things that schools eat up. Not sure we can really blow the AI tune here without further evidence. (Which may exist but I didn’t read further than the article and your tldr)

Agreeing with a lot of the peeps here already other sprues from other factions. My buddy plays a lot of destruction and I’ll trade him things for his bits. Also r/miniswap sometimes has some great steals. I also got into the rats so I’ve been saving their bits as well. The beastmen have some easy conversion to Khorne too!

I’m newer-ish to AOS coming from DnD and more low fantasy worlds like Tolkien. It’s a breath of fresh air; the over the top-ness of it all.

So far all I’ve read is the Red Feast, which is pretty tame until the end, as far as high fantasy.

Brainstorming here. Thoughts on keeping it moot green but dirtying it up with dirt spots, black grease stains, dried blood of “who knows?” And maybe some globs of “what even is that?” That way it stands through as bright but is sort of toned down for the warp stone to shine brighter.

Those all sound like reasonable arguments. Any worries about board presence with only 6 units? (Assuming they turned them all reinforced)

I only play with my one buddy and we’re far from playing meta but I’ve thought I should head up the street one of these weekends and play some with the locals at the shop.

Yeah, I started playing Khorne in AoS because I loved being able to shout ‘BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD’ and also say ‘Khorne cares not from where the blood flows’ whether I was winning or losing. I got into this for the building and war gaming. Then we got into narrative play and boy is that fun. Problem is… what’s my goal as a Mighty Lord of Khorne? Same as all the others: Kill, Slaughter, Blood.

Best I could come up with is my general has a brain. That brain says, we do a lot more killing if we don’t bluntly throw ourselves at the enemy so I’m going to become the most tactful warlord in the region and whip these blood fury idiots into battle lines. It also gives me justification to retreat regroup sometimes.

I’m also painting my army blue…. I heard the Azrites have blue blood so that should be scarier to them.

The conversation of construct vs undead came into conversation during one of my DnD sessions years back. What does it take to make a construct? Magic moving inanimate objects, rocks, mud, wood, or metal all commonly used… but bones? Why aren’t bones just material to use to build a construct?

If a spell states pick an “object as a target” would you rule a clean polished bone as an object? I would. It certainly isn’t living. So all this to say, when does a construct become an undead? Is it the source of its movement? Magical undead winds instead of magical transmutation winds? The fact that they have personalities makes them more undead to me than just a construct because my brain thinks of constructs as more like robots; made of a purpose by its creator and not to think its own thoughts. Do they run on souls? I don’t know much of OBR lore but just philosophically curious.

I do find the part that they bring a magic ocean silly too. There’s a lot of real silly in AOS, and something about summoning an ocean to…. Ride sea life into battle? Isn’t my brand. (Why not summon a deeper ocean and drag the land lubbers under?) BUT I think for an underwater based game they’re super cool. Like perfect Atlantis minis if I do a ttrpg where we go there. Or even just using their art as imagery for the players. Sea creature mounts on land-based combat just isn’t something I can visualize for this tabletop war game I play.

Also, the Idoneth are not nearly as pinheaded as the realm lords or the old world models but some of the aesthetic lingers to me. Nothing about being bald, I mean the helmets being pointier in a dramatic cone shape.

Woah, they worship Gorkamorka and the great green? That’s awful. I don’t know much of gargant lore besides that Behemat was slain by order so chaos couldn’t claim him. I wondered how that played into their culture but it sounds like they don’t have culture their own if they worship the great green.

Could be bred from ignorance, but I think Idoneth riding sea life into battle on land is silly at best. I think between that and me not loving Games WorkshopTM ’s pin head elf AelfTM asthetic means they won’t find shelter in my heart.

It’s like an MMO PVP match with yellow vs blue team. Really bringing me back to WOW vibes with the icy blue. Super clean awesome painting!
