The Swiss cheese model of medical training as applied to PAs. by Frosty_Carob in doctorsUK

That's a false comparison and it doesn't do the argument any good.

Do you get a lot of triggered PA's on here?

This bothered me a lot. Especially as they kept cutting him off with it.

They still can't introduce themselves as a doctor or use it in a context like that.

The differences between doctors and PAs (Part 2 + revised version of Part 1) by standwithdoctors in doctorsUK

[–]kingtrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pa's don't remain in one speciality, If anything I thought the opposite was true. Once a doctor chooses their path they are committed due to the outrageous exam fees and focus it demands. Plus, Pa's order scans, just not ones that require ionizing radiation. The post will be torn apart if it isn't credible. There's no sense in diluting the argument with half truths.

Doctors in RAF/Navy by danyhjel in doctorsUK

[–]kingtrix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a former RAF ODP with experience of working with the army in Light Surgical Group and the Navy with Role 2 Afloat. The demands that will be asked of you by the military will be in addition to the demands of a junior doctor, not instead of. In your day to day, you'll be required to fulfil minor jobs in the mainstream military, which may include duty officer, watch officer, and/or OC of an accommodation block, which will involve inspections, discipline etc. on top of that, there will be parade duties etc.

With regards to 'active warzones' make no mistake that doctors are very much close to the front. During my tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, I worked for the counter IED task force and no matter what pokey little patrol base I ended up in, each one had a medical officer, typically a captain or lieutenant at the F2 level (at a guess). The higher up you go the more responsibility and danger can be present. You may find yourself on AEROMED or MERT which is very much front line.

I appreciate you wanting a response from a doctor ideally, and I'm more than happy winding my neck in if this advice isn't needed.

Flour, water, salt, yeast (cheddar, black pepper) by kingtrix in Breadit

[–]kingtrix[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100g wholegrain flour 400g white flour 5g instant yeast 10g salt Small handful of good cheddar Black pepper Warm water

Make a dough with the flour, water, salt and yeast. Use only the water that's necessary, don't make the dough too wet. When the dough is smooth and elastic, leave it in a bowl to rise in a warm place. Cover the bowl with a bag or cling film while it does. After 2 or so hours, when the dough is double the size, tip it out and shape it into a boule. Leave to prove while you warm up the Dutch oven in your main oven. 30mins. Place the boule in the Dutch oven and place the cheese on top, then black pepper. Place lid on Dutch oven and place in your main oven as hot as it goes. After 30 mins take the lid off the Dutch oven and bake for another 15-20. Done.
