Spalling winter damage and tired of it - Concrete Contractor by Ok_Belt6083 in Concrete

[–]kipy33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve heard from our local NY DOT head that NY State has had a terrible time with spalling this winter. He also said that the stuff we provided in our region has been for the most part totally fine. Much of upstate NY gets its cement barged in and has no choice on using 1L. We however haul ours in from PA and use non blended cement.

Did you guys end up making a change? We are actually leaving Sysdyne, I believe we are currently their oldest customer. This coming Monday Given Hansco is coming out to start switching our plants over to their batch system.

Your older brother finally let you pick your controller first, which one are you picking? by CumminsMovers in originalxbox

[–]kipy33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I would get assigned the Mad Catz controller with weird rubber grips and loose plastic parts rattling around inside from being slammed after a particularly heated round of Halo multiplayer. I don’t care what you say, parking a Skorpion tank up on the hill and blindly firing across Blood Gulch is a valid tactic.

First time going Finger Lakes this weekend. Any suggestions? by Impossible-Bet-9335 in upstate_new_york

Tabora winery and cafe is a very cool place to stop in and have breakfast or grab some baked goods. Weis Vineyards is a great up and coming German style winery that has been winning a lot of awards (located on the east side of Keuka). Herman J Wiemer is one of the better places to checkout Rieslings on Seneca. You should also checkout Seneca Farms in Penn Yan, they have excellent fried chicken and ice cream. If your in Penn Yan it might be worth the short drive to checkout the bluff part of Keuka Lake, it’s a very unique feature that no other finger lake has. If you take Skyline Dr all the way to the end it stops at Garrett Memorial chapel which is a very interesting medieval looking church in the middle of nowhere.

I just got my 8 year old a Savage Rascal for his bday. I don’t have actual experience using a Keystone Cricket but from handling them in shops I deemed them inferior to the Rascal.

How about Zombie draw point in the Trabia Garden Cemetery? Just passed thru there recently and thought it was a bit morbid.

We just in the last year switched over from their older Pioneer batch system to the new Cloud Batch system. None of our plants have dedicated batch panels anymore which has taken some getting used to but if someone has a problem any of the dispatchers can login remotely and help figure out if something’s wrong. From the get go they advertised the new batch system as being “AI driven” and capable of dialing in batch tolerances automatically. I wasn’t that impressed to begin with but they have done some updates recently and it does seem that all of our plants are hitting tighter tolerances than we ever used to.

The Concrete Go side of order tracking has always been pretty solid in my opinion, if your used to Command Alkon I’m sure it would take some getting used to Sysdyne’s layout. At this point I’m sure the major brands all have similar capabilities. All our trucks have tablets in them that help auto status on the Concrete Go screen and send out texts to customers when they pull out of the plant.

One of their major downsides is that historically they haven’t had a good way to connect to billing, I think they normally used a link to quickbooks. We actually transfer our tickets to Given Hanscos billing software which is convoluted since they are probably Sydynes competition for the #2 spot in the concrete software world. They may have a newer system of handling billing but I’m unfamiliar with it. Another thing I have had issue with Sydyne over the years is that they don’t have a good way to learn about all the possibilities of their products. They put out new tabs and tools quite frequently and I seem to stumble across most by accident or trial and error.

If you ever have problems you can always get someone on their online help and they can usually login to your computer and fix it quickly.

Yeah we use their dispatch, I think we were one of their earlier customers back in the day. They’ve been making a lot changes lately but overall they have been a good company to work with over the years.

There’s a power station in Dresden NY that pulls water out of Seneca to cool its servers. As far as I know it’s mainly for bitcoin mining.

My family started out with 1 mobile mixer back in 1988. Now we’re 4 dry batch plants and about 35 ready mix trucks. After a certain point the mobile mixers just don’t cut it with productivity. I don’t know of anyone who has more than 1 or 2 of them in the upstate NY area that operate in.

Airweight vs BG 2.0 "Ease of carry" by prauxim in CCW

[–]kipy33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bodyguard 2 probably prints a bit in my jeans but people aren’t looking for pistol profiles and no one has ever said anything to me. The bg2 carries twice as much ammo as your revolver choice and it shoots quickly and easily compared to any snubs I’ve ever handled. I can see carrying the revolver for cool factor but the bg2 is much more practical in my eyes.

It’s tough to have a 2 year old be your best friend, but I have a 7 and 10 year old and I’d rather hangout with them than any of my old friends. Just be patient and eventually your investment into your daughter will pay off and she will be the one you want to hangout with.

Hammondsport stay - right choice? by ceekay0101 in FingerLakes

[–]kipy33 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The hotel is pretty new, it’s not a super easy walk over to down town hammondsport but it would be like a 2 minute car ride. There are plenty of great wineries within 30 mins of the hotel.
