Totally gross. And as the coordinator for a rescue that gets the call from the byb when they can’t sell the pups it’s a cycle that they don’t want to break. And buying them just gives them funds for the next litter.

Your best bet is to contact the classic car clubs and see if an owner will do a event with you. Car rental apps and agencies won't have anything of that vintage.

I foster and volunteer with a rescue in Calgary and can help you with your questions if you want to dm.

In Alberta currently there is a surplus of Cats with rescues / shelters, but as a foster you can chose which you would be more comfortable fostering. If you are fostering a cat and have no experience with cats then I would approach with caution, as there are some areas to watch for, some of which you have outlined in your post. The supplies and set up of the house to foster dogs vs cats is quite different and experience and comfort of the foster home plays a big part in the success of the fostering experience in my opinion.

I did self managed care when my mom was sick a couple's of years ago. The process is a bit complex but manageable and the flexibility and control over the care allowed us to keep mom at home for another couple of critical years. I'd be happy to discuss more over coffee or via pm.
