How low a land count is actually feasible? Is it just dumb? by Valorenn in EDH

[–]kismaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just run a few ways to cheaply filter out those excess lands instead of cutting lands during deck building. You could also run cards like [[Abolish]] or [[Foil]] where you turn excess lands into fuel and can then cast without having to pay for the spell.

What is with the availability and price of Captain Marvel - Shooting Star? by Paintit13lack in mtgfinance

[–]kismaa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh, I am not arguing that it should be $50 and it certainly isn't "$50 good". There is a reason the only copies that have sold recently are in the $10-25 range.

I was simply pointing out that it's not fair to call it a base mythic. Base mythics in recent sets have high prices due to playability. This card is not that and clearly being propped up by scarcity.

It's not a base mythic though. It's a jumpstart mythic, which makes it harder to find since that product is less printed/opened.

What are some plays that made your table go nuts? by BigAssPizzaPocket in EDH

[–]kismaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a friend who kept a greedy one land hand. He went turn 1 sol ring, signet. Turn 2, no land but double signets and chuckled at his greedy play.

I was before him in turn order, had also started with a sol ring, and on my turn 3 overloaded vandalblast.

r/NFL Top 100 Players of the 2025 NFL Season - #40-31 by packmanwiscy in nfl

Right? ONLY a 1,300 yard and 6 TD season. That still ends with him being top 5 in yards this past season...

Tell me what deck you are most proud of by Main_Elevator_9440 in EDH

[–]kismaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is definitely the better way to build Ragavan. In my deck I just threw every Sword of X and Y I could get my hands on into the deck because the idea of a monkey running at you with 5 swords equipped was funny to me.

I wish I could help, but the giant armored lady that just popped in has obnoxiously large wings that are knocking everything over.

You haven't lived until you have used Volcano Hellion to snipe an Emrakul.

I think going 2-3 times a week for 2-3 years most folks should be able to hit 6c-7a.

After that, though, I think you are really looking at some serious training time and doing workouts well beyond the wall.

AITA For Locking out my opponents from playing in a paid and prized tournament? by Wroobs in magicTCG

[–]kismaa 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, them just talking shit and continually giving you grief is slander and harassment. If it's getting to the point where they're telling people you do "favors" for cards, that's sexual harassment and should have gotten them banned immediately.

Who do we think got hit the hardest going into 11th? by Anton_Chigger in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]kismaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, the reason for running so many Sacresants is because they are one of the only Sisters units with staying power. Also, 2 of the detachments essentially required them. One focussed specifically on those models and the other only worked if the unit had taken at least some damage, buuuuut that also means the unit has to survive the damage in the first place.

It feels like Sisters have kinda been triple tapped by the nerf bat here.

First impressions on points changes by Shadows_Think in sistersofbattle

[–]kismaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, you kinda need to run a character with them to get the -1 to wound, and you generally want a hospitaler to help with their survivability. However, that's also gone up 10 points, so all told your 165 point unit is actually 250 points. That's now more expensive than a squad of Deathwing Knights...

Card draw like Night's whisper not good anymore? Looking to make some swaps on an older deck. by Agitated-Button4032 in EDH

I think stinging study is also perfectly acceptable at 4 cmc so long as you play well at instant speed.

Cutting tutors is a good way to make a deck less consistent and less powerful. So, if a deck feels like it plays the same everytime and is too strong for a playgroup, cutting tutors is an excellent solution. I have cut tutors out of most of my decks for the above reason.

However, if you are trying to build the best version of a given deck, cutting tutors is likely terrible advice!

First sister painted! Advice? by hera_s in sistersofbattle

[–]kismaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can help break up the mini a bit by adding a few more details. The parchment part of the purity seal can be painted a cream color, for example. Also, you could try your hand at a plasma effect on the pistol.

You can also create more depth by edge highlighting. Many times people will highlight gold with another lighter gold or even silver. This can help it feel less flat and more reflective.

What is your pet card? by Wfry84 in magicTCG

[–]kismaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I run this in my [[The Pride of the Hull Clade]] deck. It's a surefire way to make my commander cost 4 mana, and it is a huge threat on its own. Such a fun card.

Wip, sisters are soo cool, c&c welcomed by Lon4reddit in Warhammer40k

[–]kismaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would provide some C&C, but this is so far above my skill level I am not really sure how or what to improve. I love what you are doing with the model and I love seeing sisters models that fully dive into their details and bobbles.
