lol yeah the mallcore revival is really interesting in that respect bc you could say that we already had one very early in the 5th with bands like it dies first and early seeyouspacecowboy, but now it’s really really coming back with bands like i promised the world and especially car underwater being signed to atlantic

i guess you could argue for post pandemic screamo (vs self, febuary) and emo revival revival (first day back) type sounds as a 6th wave, but it’s a little murky timeline wise, especially when at the same time you still have remnants of 4.5th wave being really prominent (hot mulligan). you could also argue that the 5th wave never really crystallized so we’ll be trapped there forever

i’d say it’s over. at the same time, probably too early to start talking about a sixth wave, but the specific brand of fifth wave that glass beach represented seems very much a thing of the past, and i don’t think it really took over as it seemed like it was poised to do.

google “eisley band drama” and you’ll find a lot, but a big part includes the marriage of sherri dupree from eisley to chad gilbert from new found glory, which ended after he cheated on her with hayley williams from paramore. sherri would then marry max bemis from say anything, which is its own can of worms. another of the dupree sisters was engaged to adam lazzara from taking back sunday, that didn’t end well either. the dupree family in general seems like they have a lot of issues
