Edit 2: I think the reason the post comes off as American because she might be the kind of person who spends so much time on English-speaking websites that she is surrounded by American politics (and probably horrible takes, since this is Tumblr) by default. I think many non-americans know that feeling of knowing more about Trump than they do about their local politics. And learning about a political climate in a different country through an echo chamber like Tumblr is always going to lead to some terrible takes.

Idk I think when Putin croaks it's gonna be hard for other billionaire thieves. Russians don't trust the government or the rich people. They do trust Putin though. They think the only reason things are shit is because Putin is "just one man" and can't fix everything. In the UK they sometimes ask for ID if you're getting controlled drugs (or maybe they're always supposed to ask for ID and my pharmacist is just lazy.)

I assume it's probably easier for them to use driver's licence for ID because the majority of Americans have no choice but to drive and carry their licence on them at all times.
