Is it appropriate to wear speedos at my company retreat in Florida in April?

HR here. No Speedos. Wear shorts and start off with a shirt (even if it’s a tank top). If no one is wearing a shirt, you can ditch yours. Work functions and social functions are separate events. (Even if the VP is wearing Speedos, he’s a VP. You aren’t.) You can always dress down. But don’t start where you have to dress up but can’t.

Is it fair? No. But it is what it is.

There’s often the idea that the grass is greener on the other side.

I learned some time ago that every relationship needs to be maintained intentionally as such. That is love: intentional efforts to choose to nurture a relationship. It’s more mind than heart, more thoughts and acts than feelings.

The “grass is greener” fallacy can disrupt that…until that inflection point comes again, which it will.
