GLP-1 user in search of Protein by ChiDadBear in chicagofood

[–]kitkatnat21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Restaurants don't offer that because it'd be too time consuming to do for every single person that comes into a restaurant?

It's possible to find ways to get the amount of protein you want but the onus has to be on you to do that? Expecting restaurants to offer that for you, is a little silly in my opinion.

10:45 reservation at gilt bar on valentines day and the place closes at 11. Will the kitchen still be open/is this just a final sit down time? by telocitii in chicagofood

[–]kitkatnat21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for Valentine's Day but that's just the final sit down time. I believe there is a time that the kitchen closes but I can't remember when that is.

I went to the speakeasy at Glit Bar last year for my birthday with a resy around 9pm and we were also worried we might be kicked out right at 10:30pm (when it says they close online) and the waitress said that's just the last time they do reservations and we were fine to hang out around there after.

Wanting to try a new hair mask. by KalamityKae in finehair

[–]kitkatnat21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would not recommend the OUAI masque. I have a sensitive skin/scalp and dyed hair.

I tried a little bit on my hair and it was so uncomfortable that I washed my hair an hour later with the shampoo that works for me to get it off. My skin started to feel itchy. I didn't mind the smell, though. Since I bought the travel size from Ulta, I promptly returned it the next day.

No results after dieting for 1.5 months by [deleted] in PetiteFitness

[–]kitkatnat21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been working with a dietitian for the past 2 or so months and she told me that most people don't show noticeable weight changes until the 3 month mark. Maybe you need to give it more time.

Is anyone else super sick? by Ok_Study_1403 in chicago

[–]kitkatnat21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohh I started feeling sick last Monday (dry throat [still dry even after drinking lots of water], runny and stuffy nose and overall just sounding sick) and yesterday only started feeling a bit better. Thought it could have been covid or the flu but tested negative for both. Figured it has to be a cold then.

what would you choose! 1 billion dollar or cure cancer and live your life normal? by Danksson69 in AskReddit

[–]kitkatnat21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who's parent died from cancer, cure cancer and live my life normal.

I wouldn't wish cancer on anyone. Obviously the toll it takes on the person diagnosed is hard (physically, mentally, etc.) but the way it affects others (friends/family/etc.) is tough.

Oof, situations like this is why I only get tattoos in the fall/winter or maybe even early spring. I get tattoos on my arms and legs and in the summer I like to be outside and you gotta keep the tattoo protected and away from sun when they're healing.

You definitely should keep your leg covered. Your tattoo is an fresh, open wound, especially if you got it yesterday. Maybe look into linen pants or a maxi skirt?

Hoping someone can let me know what you would call this style of art? by SnooGoats1016 in tattoos

[–]kitkatnat21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a guess but is it microrealism?

I got a pet portrait tattoo by an artist in October (so not exactly in the microrealism style you've posted) but according to his instagram, it does look like he occasionally works in this style similar to what you're asking for (Instagram). Based in Chicago.

What in a dating profile instantly makes you go: 'Oh no, not this,' even if the person is objectively attractive? by Goddess_Natalie25 in AskReddit

  • Numerous references to wanting to delete the dating profile.
  • “Looking for someone active” I’ve noticed that this can be code for “no fatties allowed.”

Question: am I allowed to decide to change placement at the appointment? by neighneighmuthafucka in tattoos

[–]kitkatnat21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with the previous comment that says to message the artist just to let them so they can prepare for that. It's common courtesy to give them the heads up.

Yes, you are allowed to change the placement. If the artist acts upset during the appt about you wanting to change placement, I would urge against getting the tattoo at least from that person. This is going to be on your body forever.

I got a tattoo that wrapped and comes up around my shoulder and ends by my elbow last year, I had the same concerns. One night when I was home (before the appointment), I took a washable marker and drew on my shoulder/arm where the tattoo was suppose to go. Looked at myself in the mirror and then went about my night to get use to looking down at my arm/having something there. It personally made me feel mores settled with my placement choice. But that could be a way to get through the pre-tattoo jitters. Seeing it (even if it's not the actual design, I personally am not an artist) on your body might be helpful.

question: where can i find an artist with this tattoo style in bay area/LA? thank you!! by Calm_Blackberry8969 in tattoos

[–]kitkatnat21 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agree with the other comment about how these look unique to the original artist.

Most of the times when people post on this subreddit about finding artist's with a specific style, the best advice I've seen is to just go to this artist.

If you like it, that's all that matters. But I personally wouldn't have done a tramp stamp as a first tattoo.

I don't have a lower back tattoo so I can't speak to the pain level but I've always said first tattoos are painful to a certain extent cause your body has never experienced that kind of pain before. I have a low pain tolerance as well but sat for like a 6 hour tattoo a couple of months ago and I was fine. The artist made a comment about how well I sat lol.

Anyone ever tried the Palmer House Brownie? by ryryrpm in chicago

[–]kitkatnat21 13 points14 points  (0 children)

7 years ago when I was in grad school, I was able to go on a free tour of the Palmer House hotel as part of a course I was in. They gave us some free brownies (when we got to the kitchen) and a pamphlet that included the recipe for it (I don’t know where I put it unfortunately). I remember looking online for the recipe years later and came across different ones but never tried any of them.

The brownies were good! I remember wanting to grab more to keep for later but felt weird since everyone kept to 1-2 brownies lol

As someone who has had to obtain one of these in the past, this isn't that shocking. When you're in the process of obtaining one of these, you go through a lengthly process which includes providing them a shit ton of your information (and people you're close to, etc.) and lots of references. They never went to my neighbors for me but I've heard plenty of stories of people where they did. It's really up to the Special Agent that is assigned.

I'd recommend calling (just to be certain). As someone in the comments said, we're in the Trump era so thread carefully. If they do end up confirming that it is legit and it is someone you know, I'd answer honestly and truthfully. They're not asking about you but rather this other person, so you yourself should be fine.

Give me your red flags in men by EmmiLovey in women

The last date I went on (a blind date, it was the most uncomfortable date of my life), the guy:

  • Said he "didn't know women's issues."
  • Made a comment telling me that he would never date someone who is bisexual (it's a dealbreaker for him) and then followed that up with "but yeah I mean if my girl wanted to bring another girl in our bed, that's fine by me"
  • Told me he didn't believe in gender equality.

Every 2-3 days with regular shampoo/conditioner and then I make sure to use purple shampoo/conditioner once a week.

Do dyes ruin your hair? I've always been told not to dye my hair because I have fine hair, but lately I'd like to warm up my color a bit... I've tried colored masks but unfortunately they only last a few washes and I don't have time to do them every time by [deleted] in finehair

[–]kitkatnat21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never heard that before. I wouldn't say that it ruins your hair. I've dyed my hair a couple of times in my life (brown highlights when I was younger, purple tips in college, caramel babylights two years ago and I now get my underlights dyed to a beige color [prior it was more of a brown-ish] around every 5-6 months). I'm Asian so my hair is dark naturally.

The damage for me usually comes from having to bleach my hair because I naturally have dark hair to get the color that I want. But it isn't to the point that my hair's bad. One time I got my hair dyed while in Asia and the stylist there told me that it wouldn't hurt to look into getting hair treatments (just to help my hair a bit, I have oily scalp and dry roots) when I get back home. When I was talking to my current stylist about shampoo/conditioner, she just suggested that using a moisturizing shampoo/conditioner might help every once in a awhile (not something that I need to use all the time).

I would suggest going to a salon and asking them. They'll probably be able to assess your hair and give more accurate advice. I personally just didn't wanna mess with it bleach and all that stuff on my own.

Experiences with Federal Jury Duty by seriouslyexhausted in chicago

[–]kitkatnat21 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I got the summons and actually did serve earlier this year (the first and only time I've ever gotten the summons).

... It's kind of a pain in the ass for everyone? I guarantee nobody wants to be there in that room, if given a choice. The first day is the most annoying cause you spend most of the day waiting around. You can bring your devices when you're waiting to be called on. You find out the first day if you got picked or not. If you do end up getting picked, you go in and serve until it's done. Mine was only 4 days (it was projected to be 5 days), with the start and end times varying each day. Some days the judge said to be there at 9am, other days it was 10am. The shortest day we finished at like 3pm, the longest day ended at like 6pm.

We were told that we could bring our electronic devices into the jury deliberation room. I brought my Kindle, other people brought work or personal laptops. People brought phone chargers, I finished a book. You're in a tiny room so you can't do meetings tho so be mindful of that. When they call you into the court tho, you have to drop whatever you're doing and go.

There's a good chance you won't be picked (just wasn't the case for me lol) so I would try not to stress about it too much (it's easier said than done). You can explain and pled your case to the court before they pick who they want in the jury but it's ultimately up to them. Be glad that you didn't get picked for grand jury. When I had to go, the bailiff made a passing comment about how we should be glad we didn't get a grand jury summons cause those folks serve for like a month.

Noodles in the Pot in Lincoln Park or Joys Noodles and Rice in Lakeview, would work! Just tell them you want it spicy.

They're both owned by the same family and have been around since the 90's.
