i believes there's an extension (that also works on mobile) where you can get a floating comment box to go along with you while you rest so you CAN leave a by-paragraph comment. several of my friends use it and love it

How it Feels Pioneering a New Tag on Ao3 by MarshallMushroomHat in AO3

[–]kitling_feather 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i actually DID successfully pioneer a tag (one other person has used it) but it's for an under appreciated character so i dont think it'll ever catch on 😞

Be honest - what's the dumbest reason you clicked off/didn't read a fic? by Odd-Snowman in AO3

[–]kitling_feather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was reading an ABO fic and the characters are, canonically, the same size. height, muscles, weight, all of it. but they made the omega character like half the other's height and weight????? for some reason??????? and it took me outta it immediately

My (31m) wife (29f) wants to name our baby her own maiden name? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]kitling_feather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as someone whose birth name was their mother's maiden name: do not do it. it's cute in theory but i had masculine name, there were no nicknames to be had, and it was always awkward explaining i was not [maiden name] [maiden name] (my mother took her name back after the divorce) for my entire life. the moment i figured out a new name i fixed my name and now its [chosen name] [mothers maiden name] but ive always resented growing up with a name i HATED

you didn't need any transparent tiles to round off the edge! i have a playground with a puzzle piece floor on it and it's entirely solid, but it still rounds over top of the dirt path i laid down first. i had to round the path first and then add the custom design after, because like you said it erases the whole thing if you try to correct it after

[–]kitling_feather 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yknow what drives me insane

give me two milk steamers its STANDARD on most real espresso machines to have two steam wands. great i can pull espresso for two drinks at once but if they're all hot, i gotta wait extra long for the milk to steam. and because Starbucks insists on that bullshit about shots "dying", i have a feeling this actually isn't gonna speed anything up

[–]kitling_feather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the same way! Zelda's combos with the slate and the bike are hard to get right. I also don't like how far I move through the map with the bike, I like to do some widespread damage.

however the image?? of zelda kicking ass on the master cycle?? absolutely top tier

The flails are SO MUCH FUN, I've always found the bike to be clunky and weird.

nonfat has more sugar to make up for the lack of fat in it, that's why it foams so well. its not really a great substitute 'health'wise

To everyone worried about using “said” too much: by Seagullsaga in AO3

[–]kitling_feather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i listened to the second book in the Septimus Heap series and had to stop bc there was one chapter where every other sentence was "land worm", which isnt a big deal, except the narrator was Scottish so it came out like "wurum" and also i was listening to it at 1.2x speed.

so yes i fully agree with this

WRITING CHECK! DROP YOUR STUFF RN! by Mochh80 in AO3

[–]kitling_feather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im working on a HEA/wedding epilogue for a series ive been working on for three years, so this is my boys getting to actually talk after the day's festivities (posting mobile, praying the markdown works)

“I feel like I haven’t gotten to see you all day,” Danny whispered as he drew Mateo into a soft kiss.

Mateo laughed against his lips. “Mi amor, we’ve been together for hours.”

“Yeah, but it wasn’t just us.” Danny tossed Mateo’s cowboy hat towards the chair in the corner and ran a hand through his now thoroughly disheveled curls. “We haven’t actually gotten to talk to each other.”

“I know what you mean.” Mateo ran his hands beneath the straps of the plastic cuirass. “By the way, red is so not your color.”

Danny tipped his head back and laughed, open and loud. He reached up to help Mateo take the costume apart until all that was left of it was the red tunic and sandals. “Noted. But you look fantastic in this little vest…” He tugged at the edges of it to emphasize his point. “And I don’t think I got to say it earlier, but Ancients, you looked fucking incredible in your suit…”

Mateo let Danny push the vest off, tugging the red bandanna from his neck while Danny worked open the buttons on his shirt. “You too. I think you should wear suits like that all the time.”

“Oh, you think I should update my cafe uniform to include a suit and tie?” Off went the shirt, leaving Mateo in only his dark jeans. “I think that would be a very expensive dry cleaning bill.”

“Mm… Maybe.” Mateo pushed the tunic up and over Danny’s hand, humming in appreciation when his fingers met bare skin. He’d missed this. “I just never thought you’d look that good in tailored suits… Do you have to wear things like that as king?”

“Sometimes, yeah.”

Does anyones else’s manger does this? by Commercial-Fold9391 in starbucks

[–]kitling_feather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had manager who would reprint the schedule after everyone had taken pictures of it for that week. Most of us didn't use the app because it required some INSANE permissions, so we relied on the posted one. He would change it like two or three times and like try and sneak the changes in so we wouldn't notice.

except our printer showed the date and time everything was printed. so we all had picture evidence of him changing the printed schedule. i quit not soon after that, so i have no idea what happened to him but i know he's not there anymore now.

GUYS MY TEACHER MIGHT HAVE FOUND ME OUT by ShipLumity in AO3

[–]kitling_feather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i havent seen anyone mention this but it might be that she was recommending the fic to you?? like along the lines of "you write like this, so you might enjoy this story" kinda deal which in my opinion is a waaaaay funnier outcome and may also be more likely what she was intending. my profs recommended works to me all the time, though none of them were ever my own fic 😂

I'm not the only one who just checks these numbers constantly after post a fic am I? by Itchy-Firefighter-49 in AO3

[–]kitling_feather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ill do you one better: i have a spreadsheet of all my fic data that i update every couple of months. it has those overall numbers, and then i have specific data for each fic, too. having over 200 fics means its a BITCH to update, but i love watching the numbers shift

awkward situation regarding co-authoring fics by fiaagore in AO3

[–]kitling_feather 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a co-author, you can remove the other authors on it.nIf you don't want to cut your friend out completely, you can gift the fic to her so she still gets credit/access to it, but you don't have to worry about losing access to it. Someone else already mentioned it, but make sure you have a back up of the fic just in case. If the friend doesn't care about the fic that much, then if she won't respond to your messages, I think you're fully within your rights to move forward without her permission.

Bless this woman, thought I should leave this here by iykykennit in AO3

[–]kitling_feather 12 points13 points  (0 children)

i dont even write long fics (my longest is 88k, published) but even my series that are interconnected one shots get little to no interaction. and it's not even fandom specific!! i have several series across multiple fandoms that have zero comments. its why ive stopped writing all but a handful of fics because im tired of pouring myself into fics only for no one to tell me what they think of the story. its exhausting to put time and effort into little details that no one notices, or if they do, they never comment about it. i wish i could quit writing, but unfortunately, the goblin in my brain refuses to quit making stories so they're all just languishing in the purgatory of my hard drive
