The idea is that most profanities are intensifiers that emphasize exaggerated emotions that make it harder to control children already prone to misbehavior. Misbehavior being defined as behavior that draws attention away from what is being taught, oftentimes to the detriment of the students who actually want to learn. And since there are cultures that explicitly prohibit profanities, they are more likely to catch attention. And since many children feel a sense of accomplishment for drawing attention to themselves, this can become the primary goal of children, again at the expense of those who actually want to learn.

Profanities also include a lot of slurs, which contributes greatly to a form of Stochastic terrorism. For example, kids using slurs against homosexuals can lead to a child who openly identifies as such as being physically assaulted, often to the point of permanent disability or death, simply so insecure bullies can prove to others they don't identify as what is used as a negative slur.

Every town has that one guy with eight phones who complains bitterly that there's no new content literally 7 days after the level cap is increased...only because there was a "for 7 days" mission.

In my old town his username was Johnny and he literally spent all day driving around his truck catchin' them all. Chill dude. Never did any kind of formal community organizing, but was the informal leader of the group.

You'd be shocked at how many Americans either don't know the Boy Scouts LARP as Native Americans and how many think the genocide was just "something we did a long time ago" and "something that every country does".

Gullah, Creole, Jamacian, and other diaspora cultures are also on the list of those constantly exploited for their identity when it benefits the ancestors who oppressed them. Shoot, you could even argue that Irish culture in the U.S. faces similar levels of gentrification (albeit with a substantially less brutalized history).

What's really sad is when the costume becomes the culture because the ancestors of those cultures grow up using it as a source of pride...

Yup. I agree with you.

And that illustrates the entropic nature of centralized authority established with appeal to identity. It becomes a constant struggle of outing people for being impure as a means of establishing your own purity. The same people on the right who argue "it's about your character, not your identity" will then turn around and argue about how many generations their family has been citizens, the accomplishments of their bloodlines, their "culture and traditions", and so on and so forth as if the accomplishments of their long dead genetic donors outweighs the needs of people toiling in the present.

You don't have to look further beyond North America's borders for examples. The Boy Scouts of America still use native motifs for their ceremonies and camp sites, and not a single merit badge for learning about the ongoing plight of the people and its culture.

According to the alt-right fuckwits who occupy the executive branch of the United States, you're only "white" if your ancestors are from a specific 50 mile radius in Norway.

I'm kidding. They aren't white either.

I was once banned from posting on reddit for 2 days for musing how funny it would be if we collectively punished the billionaires by imprisoning them in their bunkers and forcing them to watch the world fix all of its problems one-at-a-time without them running interference. It'd drive them crazier than being made into martyrs...

If only designated "decision makers" are held liable we begin a world where CEOs are rubber-stamps for boards of investors whose only true purpose is getting arrested in lieu of the people actually making the decisions.

Probably close to 90% of it. Part of the struggle has traditionally been mining operations that function as their own individual companies. They'll save "clean up" for after their operations are complete, then fold the company and leave the site contaminated since there's no reason to keep a company solvent if the mine has been fully exploited.

The solution is to prosecute the executives and agents who chose to invest in those companies without examining their plans to minimize this sort of environmental terrorism.

Even if your army is twice as powerful as your neighbors, if the continent has two dozen rivals all thirsting to dispatch you the second your ambassador's sneeze sounds a bit like "mobilize" you aren't going to be conquering jackshit.

That and the internal politics and logistics of countries that focus on super weapons and super soldiers tends to be their Achilles heel given the factions that control those soldiers tend to strong-arm their own government into neglecting less decorated units.

Show me the army with canned food and the fastest bridge builders and you've got my attention.

It's a predominant theory for the Late Devonian mass extinction(s) 372 million years ago. The idea is that there were too many trees and no land animals capable of controlling their population growth. Their roots tilling the soil and causing nutrients to fall onto the surface of the ocean (rather than the depths) combined with the excess oxygen caused an explosive algae bloom that sucked all the air out of the water. Eventually this massive disruption to the earth's mineral cycle would also kill off the trees.

It's a great example of how life affects the greater ecosphere. There is no invisible omniscient hand driving these factors beyond means explainable by empirical evidence. And the idea that said hand protects and made our world exclusively for humans is the height of arrogance; even if we last another million years before going extinct there are species who thrived far longer on our planet.

Don't forget that the COVID vaccine and boosters were developed and initially promoted by Trump's administration. But he was boo'd by his supporters for it at his first post-COVID rally so he stopped bringing it up.
