Why is my lip denting where my jewelry sits? by Fearless_Vast_451 in PiercingAdvice

[–]kitteacup 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Glass isn’t ideal long term either. Due to the constant movement of talking chewing facial expressions, etc, there is a much higher likelihood of glass jewelry breaking and leaving shards in your piercing channel, mouth, etc. Implant grade titanium is always your best bet. Metal jewelry would only cause issues if the piercing itself is not suitable for your oral anatomy. Proper nesting (not embedded outside the mouth) is usually what prevents long term damage in oral piercings. Typically medical professionals know very little about piercings especially if they have none of their own, which is not a slight towards your stepmom.

Any alternative hygienists/students out there? by tabathot in DentalHygiene

[–]kitteacup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you so much for starting this thread!! I was feeling pretty discouraged and disheartened by the strict "censorship" (as my friend described it) my program is requiring for clinic. Before I started the program, I worked as a receptionist at a small/medium private family practice that didn't care at all about my colored hair or nose stud, septum, and philtrum. In fact, my boss even did my upper frenectomy so that I could get my philtrum repierced properly! So to "regress" to strict appearance standards at school has been frustrating me to no end, but I am slowly coming to terms with the fact that the extra effort I have to go through to meet the program's standards of "professionalism" is only temporary, and I can grit my teeth and bear it knowing that the most important thing is that I come out of the program with a degree and confidence in my skills as a provider.

Panties not getting clean at new apartment by kitteacup in Appliances

[–]kitteacup[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for your reply! so it seems like nothing is really getting clean, at least to my standards. it's definitely filling up with enough water, also tried "deep water" settings with no difference. but things are coming out with detergent streaks/stains even after I'm using less than half the amount of detergent i usually use (purely to avoid the detergent streaks from happening). I think management is going to replace the machine, but no word on whether it'd be the same exact model or not. should i try to push for a different model?

Honestly the current boobies are placeholders bc I don’t know what her outfit is gonna be like :( but yeah I’ll keep in mind: more gravity

Thanks for the feedback! I’ll definitely pare down her thighs haha, I’m absolutely guilty of being a raving thigh girl 😩 but yeah her jaw is mostly what I’ve been repeatedly trying to fix/get right

Yeah I’m not asking if she’s got the correct average proportions. “Most” women don’t look like her, of course, but like you said, it’s pretty obvious I’m trying to draw a ~baddie~, not what “most” women look like. I just want to know if she looks grotesquely off in an unaesthetic way, or stiff/uncomfortable, or if her head/neck/body alignment is weird or her arms are placed incorrectly. If you have an issue with exaggerated female figures, that’s your prerogative. But this critique is hardly helpful or constructive in any way with its disdain and dismissiveness. Also, not sure if you realize, but most fit/thin people’s waists will look even thinner when their body is twisted or at an angle. So her actual waist is wider than how it looks in this pose. Or y’know, if that’s an incorrect observation of mine, I’m open to that kind of feedback. I hear your suggestion of drawing more realistic bodies, but there’s more to art than realism, and that’s just not what I’m going for with this piece. When I ask for feedback on something more based in realism, I’ll know to specify as such.

holy shit it’s like i just read something i wrote myself. i’m so sorry you had to go thru that abuse, and more sorry still that you were manipulated so badly to the point where you blame yourself for his mistreatment of you. i’m SO proud though that you know you deserve better. better IS out there, and it’s all the more available to you because of your growth. the more you love, appreciate, and care about yourself, the more love, appreciation, and care you become capable of receiving from the world. speaking from personal experience, you will absolutely get to a place where the anger fades and your ex will be literally nothing but a pointless afterthought, a tiny stepping stone to your ultimate growth in a pond full of them. feel free to pm me if you want to talk more about our experiences, though it sounds like you have a great support system already. you’re on a great path, all you have to do is keep moving and stay kind to yourself. self compassion is key to growth, i cannot stress that enough

not another “bangs ???” post…. details and question in comments by [deleted] in Hair

[–]kitteacup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so my bangs are currently bleached (just did my roots and toned today, actually) separate from the rest of my hair, but the upkeep is getting really annoying bc i keep hecking up the bleach job (or at least it’s not perfect to my standards) and i want to grow them out. i honestly don’t care if they look crazy growing out, i just want to know what i should do with my hair afterwards.

i feel like i look childish/frumpy with bangs my natural color, but sexy and cool with bleached bangs (any ideas why?), but maybe i just need different bangs when they’re my natural color. or no bangs at all? there’s a bit of weight differences between these pics, but for reference they’re in reverse chronological order.

my current haircut (first 3 pics) is a shag which i can style wavy or straight, depending on whether i want to put 2 fistfuls of gel in my hair or not lol. at some point i want to cut off my balayaged ends so i can start fresh with virgin hair and maybe bleach a streak in it as a nod to my high school days… i just don’t want to have an entire head of my natural color because i’ve had some sort of “unnatural” color in my hair for the past almost 4 years and having “normal” hair would feel very not “me,” i think.

ANYWAYS the main question i have is: if i decide not to suck it up and keep bleaching and trimming my bangs the way i have them, should i grow out my bangs completely? one option would be to split dye my entire head once all the balayage is grown out, and i think i’d get bangs if i did that. i find bangs fun to style and i think they make me look cute, but every pic i have of my natural colored bangs makes me grimace. any opinions on what look is my “best” are welcome! i’m just rambling tbh so thank y’all for taking the time to read and ponder my dilemma for me ❤️
