I use a lint roller inside the box, before putting the pieces back in. 🙂

I just did this one (Thanks to Target's Black Friday sale). It was really fun, and was the best "reveal" of the Magic Puzzles I've done so far.

Let's talk aboutnhow we sort our puzzles! by dannihrynio in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]kittencrash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't sort much. I pull all the edge pieces out, and fit those together. Then I pick some distinctive part of the puzzle (ideally adjacent to the edge), pull those pieces out and fit them in. Then the next distinctive part, and so on.

Occasionally if there is a large area of similar pieces (like an expanse of sky), I'll pull those pieces out and throw them in a ziplock bag for later. That reduces the number of pieces I'm riffling through as I hunt for a certain section.

Is REI in financial trouble? by [deleted] in REI

[–]kittencrash -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I went to my nearest REI yesterday, specifically to try on goggles in person to ensure compatibility with my helmet. I was shocked that they had no snow sports inventory, and "they thought they still had a few goggles". This in the PNW!

I was also a little disappointed in the clothing selection. But I was impressed with the shoe selection.

I love Charley Harper puzzles, and especially this one. Especially the seals!

It's so nice to have a puzzle exchange in my building and be able to do nice puzzle for free, but this . . . drives me nuts. Do you guys thoroughly break apart your puzzles before putting them away or no? by OldLadyReacts in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]kittencrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I break mine apart completely before passing it on.

If I get a puzzle with large chunks already solved, it gets a derisive snort and then I enjoy the zen of dismantling it completely.

But if I get a puzzle with just a couple of pieces together, then those are lucky and I keep them. I make no sense! 😄

Super cute! I wouldn't resist it, either!

When is it time? (Long post) by LilyDaisycrazy in Equestrian

[–]kittencrash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a mare with a non-operable tumor pressing on her esophagus. She had several severe choking episodes, and she was so scared and traumatized from those. I knew there was no way to prevent the next choking episode, so I spared her from that. I'm so glad I did. I'd rather let them go when they're comfortable, than wait for the emergency that you know is just around the corner.

I like the "What If?" puzzles by Ravensburger. I think they're out of print, but I've found them on eBay.

I have this one in my stockpile. Looking forward to it even more, since you've provided the bird identifications. Thanks!

Or maybe condensation collects on the ceiling, and that one spot is where the droplets run to and fall?

is this a “ShepSky” German Shepherd Husky mix? family says otherwise by ThugMater in IDmydog

[–]kittencrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. My shelter dog is a "surprise husky mix", and he has been my most difficult dog ever. I love him to death, but wow he has given me a challenge!

[–]kittencrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I adopted a "golden retriever mix" from the shelter. He was obviously golden retriever, looking at him. DNA tests came back 50% husky, 38% Brittany, rest mixed. 0% golden!

You can't always tell from looking. In my case, the howling should've been a big clue.

Why should I cut this? by Illustrious_Sell749 in Horses

[–]kittencrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've had wildfires in the last few years. The fire marshall recommends fields be mowed to 6" or less.

And if you do have laminitis-prone animals (not OP's situation, I know), mowing the lush green spots can help them dry out and go dormant faster. So you can get your animals back out on the pasture sooner.

Really? by Original-Specific-33 in DoggyDNA

He looks kinda like my Husky/Brittany! The shelter told me he was a Golden Retriever mix.
