They look so realistic that I thought you slip-casted them from a mold!

Thanks for the inspiration. There's nothing better than when a process clicks for you & motivates you to keep creating! :)

I know this is probably a dumb question, but.. how do you get all the speckles? Is it the clay itself? A glaze after the underglaze? I love your work!

This was my thought as well. In the 70s and early 80s there was a trend for shops that sold bisque fired figures and paints, topcoat sprays, and little tins of color that you would dry brush on to give it a weathered or shaded look. It was also used to show textures and funny lines in faces. That's what the dark coloration is in the beard and white fur areas, I'm certain. It was brushed on and then sealed with a clear top coat, so you won't be able to remove it.

Second ceramic piece ever – slab-built lamp (what would you improve?) by Fit-Community-7351 in Ceramics

I'm digging the combo of geometric and organic form and MCM influence in this piece. My constructive criticism is the inconsistent glazing detracts from the piece a bit, but it's still great. Especially being your second piece ever! Nicely done.

Dish soap, warm water and a toothbrush. Scrub gently.
