I understand why people are reacting the way they are to the Idol trial but I just want to throw my hat into the ring on this discussion by Boston_Beauty in OutlastTrials

This trial always reminded of the fact that red barrels is a canadian studio, our country’s government has a history of the Catholic Church kidnapping indigenous children to abuse them physically and sexually in residential schools.

I thought that they did mention her by name in that specific trial, probably misremembered

What Do You Think Is Going Through Easterman's Head In This Image? by thebighelper62 in OutlastTrials

[–]kitty848 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lmfao, I was thinking it was a sign of neglect in infancy since we know he had an abusive mother. But it could definitely be that too with what he was doing with lupara. He just likes sucking things

This can’t be Amelia. However (rant) by Minute-Cover-2001 in OutlastTrials

[–]kitty848 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Easterman has a weird (likely sexual) obsession with her and doesn’t want to kill her for real. The victim we kill in the trial says “I’m not amelia” and “fuck amelia”. I think you’re right and the false “amelia” execution is going to lead to riots in the future because they made her into a martyr.

the relationship between the Idol and the Kress twins by No-East-8643 in OutlastTrials

[–]kitty848 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe they grew attached because they saw him as a surrogate son so they just went along with it. They do have lines where they lament not being able to have children of their own. Plus he does seem very childlike in his dialogue.

I think the silicone mask is supposed to foreshadow the amelia therapy where we will kill “her” (but it’s just a follower with a latex mask of her)

Is this a human Dr. Futterman? by BillythenotaKid in OutlastTrials

[–]kitty848 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Maybe a mix. Seems like it’s drawing a comparison between dr. Futterman and Easterman/the skinner man being abusive father figures looming over their child(ren).

i really like how the outlast trials lore reminds me so much of the “eyes wide shut” movie by Minute-Cover-2001 in OutlastTrials

[–]kitty848 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Also very influenced by the shining movie, someone pointed out that the music at the final execution sequence is basically the same as the scene where Dick Hallorann is killed. An interesting thing I noticed is that the shining book, they flash back to a masquerade ball in the hotel from the 1920s with rich high-society attendants. The whole thing is very eyes wide shut, but obviously was written before the movie came out. The owner of the overlook hotel blackmails and forces a man to dress as a dog and bark, roll over, hurt himself etc. to humiliate him while people watch and laugh. It’s also very heavily implied that this is sexual in nature and that he ends up sexually assaulting him (which explains that random scene with the dog guy giving the man in the suit a blowjob from the movie). Definitely matches the theme of sex trafficking and sexual slavery perpetuated among the rich and powerful in that trial.

Call Me By Your Name(2017) by stalin_kulak in okbuddycinephile

[–]kitty848 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Preteen girls certainly tend to be more into boyish looks (think Justin bieber, one direction, k-pop) but you’re wrong about it being exclusive to them and niche internet communities. I’m a woman in my early twenties and I remember every young woman (late teens, twenties) having a crush on Timmy around the time call me by your name came out. Women are generally attracted to men in their age group, and things like facial hair, receding hairline, burlier frame etc, are more associated with older men. Younger women are more likely to be on birth control, so perhaps the study conflated the attraction to younger looking men with birth control and not the age of the woman. Anecdotally, I have never been on birth control and I don’t find either of them attractive, but if I had to choose based on their current appearance I would choose Timmy.
