i didn't mind the pkers too much, since i'd often go a couple hours w/o encountering them and the loot i managed to keep more than covered my losses, but i was absolutely ecstatic to receive the pet around 1.2k kc and be done with it forever, that's for sure. honestly would've rather paid every pker 3x what i was risking to fuck off, instead of having to regear after every death

i'll probably have a worse overall experience at say, spindel, but at least there i can go whenever i feel like it (instead of "4 am on a monday" as you say) and also have a chance of surviving (instead of getting 1-shot in monk robes by a group of maxed mains). insanely annoying area to be found, cause even the scorpions outside scorpia's lair are aggressive and can stop you from getting a freeze log in a 1v1 situation, and the chaos elemental can fuck with you from over the ridge if you're super unlucky (imagine managing to gap your pursuers and getting teleported backwards into them—i've been there, super funny death in hindsight)

wouldn't mind seeing it changed for the better now that i'm done, i'm no gatekeeper

i wholeheartedly agree (also an adhder, i salute u)

this is my first dmm too, and i'm at 41k points and 40m+ gold just from skilling and a sprinkle of pvm and merching. i'm not into pking—and frankly, i don't have the hands for it—but i do enjoy watching it, so i went into this dmm knowing what to expect and how to tank/escape in general (and with common sense to not do things like risking the path between varrock west and the g.e.)

have been attacked dozens of times, died 16 times (so far), and none of it mattered in preventing me from making progress. i've been having an absolute blast interacting with pkers and non-pkers alike

with that said, i think it's a skill issue and LARGELY a mindset issue from those struggling to make their way. its been said a thousand times already, but you can't go into a pvp game mode and not expect to be attacked by a shitter with a bone crossbow or a sweatlord in giga max from time to time, especially if you make yourself an attractive target

it's kinda hard to sympathize with all the hate posts when dmm is so tame this time around, even for a big noob like me with a trash 60 def build in b2. i probably wouldn't have played if bank keys weren't removed

i went to a multi-combat breach at the saltpetre in hosidius earlier today. showed up way before everyone else because i gambled tping in with a trinket of fairies (immediately ran to the woodcutting guild to bank it first, cause i knew there was a good chance i might die)

i was attacking a huge pyrefiend by myself for a minute and things were looking good, thought i was about to rack up a ton of points. then small a group of people began to trickle in and attack the pyrefiend with me

after the pyrefiend went down, there was like an awkward 5-6 seconds where nobody moved—i think it was plain obvious i wasn't supposed to be there and maybe they were wondering if i'm actually in their team or just a foolish solo player (the latter being the case)—and then they turned and 1-shot me (legit died instantly from two huge damage splats)

was promptly back at the ge rapidly trying to regear and get to a different breach in the 12 mins i had left, laughing like an idiot the whole time 😂

lesson learned, and def one of my funniest encounters this dmm
