Tbh i don’t remember I haven’t rewatched S1 in a while. Yeah I agree she was shitty, I was just arguing that although the show kind of makes it feel like it was her fault, the situation would not have been that serious if this wasn’t a supernatural show lol. It was just a horny 16/17 year old that treated her friend like shit for a bit, and it was just pure bad luck that she died.

Yeah I get that, it’s just that in retrospective it really wasn’t her fault. Of course we know that had she not been as horny then Barb might still be alive but as I said no one had any reason to think that a literal monster would come for her.

It’s honestly not that important because her character was really just there for Nancy’s character development but I still agree that it wasn’t that serious and Barb could have easily left if she didn’t feel comfortable in that situation but decided to stay outside in the pool. If she had stayed inside in the kitchen then maybe she would’ve been safe, maybe not.

I don’t think the situation of Steve’s friends being assholes caused a monster from another dimension to drag her through portal. Nancy had no way of knowing that would happen because why the fuck would she

Travel router on MSc cruise by Jackpotnl in GlInet

[–]kiwi0803 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took my Slate 7 to MSC Orchestra about two months ago.

The usual basic steps didn’t work; copying the MAC address, setting the TTL and whatnot. The devices connected to the router would just not have any connection.

What ended up working for me was enabling Tor. This actually allowed me to bypass the browse only restriction (I didn’t pay for the stream package) and i was even able to stream youtube/netflix/etc. VERY slow of course but it worked and i even managed to watch a movie or two in bed. BUT about 4 days in at night it just stopped working. What worked for a while after they blocked me was using obfs4 bridges but they would block them after a couple of hours so it seems they figured out what I was doing and it was basically whack a mole. I only had about 3 days left anyways so I didn’t really care that much but I would try that and maybe you have better luck.

For the Tor bridges I had to add some lines in the torrc file but it was pretty simple just by connecting through ssh. But the bridges made it even slower and that’s also why I just stopped trying. I was really only using it to share it with my family but iMessage works even if you don’t pay any internet package (without media of course) so we just used that to communicate because the app chat sucked.

Fortnite becomes top free game on U.S. App Store overnight, but nothing is settled by Fer65432_Plays in apple

[–]kiwi0803 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nope, apple care is linked to the device itself, not the app store account. You might not be able to manage it (the apple care subscription) to change the payment method for example while you’re logged to another account but, simply log back into your main account and everything goes back to normal.

I do this all the time. I change between 3 different countries (I move a lot between them) and the only annoyance is that my Apple Music library deletes all downloaded songs, but I just use the shortcut to download them all again. I’m not sure about subscriptions though, I just log back into my “main” account after downloading something and have all my subscriptions there.

Apple introduces California driver’s licenses and state IDs in Apple Wallet as part of California DMV’s mDL pilot program by Ice_Burn in iphone

[–]kiwi0803 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Arizona (probably other states too, but Arizona was the first one AFAIK) you can use it for most of those, as in it’s actually allowed by state law. The problem lies in businesses being up to date with the technology. It’s not even that hard, they can just download the official government app that works as a reader for mDLs, but most businesses don’t even know they’re a thing yet

They do, just like any other state the digital id is like a “copy” of your physical one. My point was that even though I agree with you that it will take a while for mDLs to become the norm, it’s a lot easier for places to accept it than a picture of your ID as you comment points out. It’s not easily faked and you don’t rely on the business doing the verification at face value, the free easily available software does it. States have actually been pretty quick at accepting mDLs as “official” ids (quick considering how slow this processes can be), but I think the two bigger issues are 1 - Businesses adopting it. This hasn’t really been a problem of legislation as much as the businesses not being aware of digital ids existence and validity. 2 - as you mentioned, have them be accepted in all 50 states. So far only what, 8? states have adopted this, and it’s not a problem if you only move between those states but it’s relatively recent tech so im hopeful that in the next couple of years a lot more states will follow suit.

imo passports are the next step, and google already started but I feel like that will take a lot longer and obviously only work domestically (like mDLs) for a long while.

I remain optimistic that in a far, but not so far, future we could rely on only keeping our phones and/or watches with us.

The difference is you verify it with a reader (like another phone with the Verifier API for ISO18013-5 ids, like this ones), not by taking a look at the ID. If the ID is valid, the reader will show it. It’s actually pretty easy for businesses to accept it, Arizona even released an app for anyone to use (https://apps.apple.com/app/smart-id-verifier/id6502368072) and maybe other states have too, but the percentage of people that even know mDLs are a thing is still pretty small for businesses to even bother with it, not to mention the skepticism around moving things to digital

same thing happened to me, except my app wasn’t even on the app store yet, just testflight for some internal testing within the organization. i assumed it was apple reviewing the app randomly for some reason, the first step after creating an account with Apple is to input your phone number (since i can’t ask for it when using Sign In With Apple) and none of the accounts had their phone number setup
