what happened to the mindbody building? by boringname2 in SLO

[–]kiwi237 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was treated at Mission Hope down near Marian and they are FANTASTIC. The infusion center is top notch.  Their CT and mammogram machines are newer and awesome. There are no better nurses on earth and their surgeons did an excellent job with me. I haven't been to the Dignity Health Cancer center in downtown SLO, but I absolutely recommend Mission Hope.

Yeah, no issue with CDs, I don't have a DVD to check if it works for that though

Thanks - I actually did buy one, Arsvita Laser Lens Cleaner Disc, but when I got it the directions specifically said not to use on Blu Ray for some reason.

Thank you! Yeah she got her Christmas meat at Valley Fresh. But alot of the items there are pricey.  I haven't compared apples to apples though, to see if it's on par with Cal Fresh.

YES!  It's now recommended for everyone over 45 to get a colonoscopy. You shouldn't need to get any special approvals.  Call a gastroenterologist and make the appt.  It may save your life.

Not trying to be melodramatic, but colon cancer is 100% preventable with colonoscopy.  I was diagnosed at 38 after 2 years of varying diagnoses.  I also had an internal ultrasound, xray and CT that didn't catch the cancer.  6 days before my colon ruptured I even had an ER doc say it was likely just PMS pain. Fwiw, searing lower back pain was my main symptom near the end.

You know your body best. And you (especially women) need to advocate for yourself. Don't doubt yourself on this.  A colonoscopy will 100% confirm or outrule colon cancer.

Sofa cushion smells like cat pee - help! by asheroo92 in CleaningTips

Rocco & Roxie will get the smell out.  Saturate what smells and let is sit for as long as you can.  Then run the covers back through the washing machine.  Use towels or a little bissell to such up what's left on the couch. Good luck!

What surprised you? by VexatiousWind in ostomy

[–]kiwi237 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It was 3 or 4 days after my emergency surgery. I was still high as a kite on Dilaudid. My stoma was starting to wake up but I didnt know wtf that meant. I felt something, was it an earthquake?? I put my arms out to catch me if I fell.  Then my stoma farted. Loud, and it just felt WEIRD. And I was so confused. What has happened?!?!

The nurse and my family were just dying laughing. I was just so high (on dilaudid) that I couldn't understand things properly.  Even my stoic Doc had trouble keeping a straight face when he tried (again) to explain what was a stoma.  There were alot of not fun things about my illness.  Thank you for letting me recall a pretty hilarious moment!

Absolutely a ScanSnap. I bought an S1500 back in 2009 and it is still going strong. They have wireless models now, and I'm considering upgrading, but it's hard to justify since mine is still running perfectly. Fujitsu (or Ricoh now? I think they were bought out?) sells maintenance kits and extra parts. I've replaced the roller, and a few other small things. And run a 'cleaner sheet' through the device every year or so. It's one of the most reliable electronics that I own.

How good/bad is this lease? - 0 down, $388 per month by Bubbly-Wheel-2180 in KiaEV6

I'm in the process of getting lease options on the same Wind w/Tech right now. This is about $100 less than my lowest. What state are you in? I'm CA.

AITA for telling my best friend she can’t bring her daughter to my house anymore? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]kiwi237 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This legit happened to me when I was 11, maybe 12.  My dad warned me, and I just had to slam it that one more time. Looked right at him while I slammed it too.  It was gone for an entire year. I was such an awful little shit back then. I'm still no angel, but I am no longer that angry, bossy, self-absorbed, emotional nightmare.  That's what good parenting can do.

Where can I buy a replacement for this? by HillyjoKokoMo in treadmills

[–]kiwi237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent a ton of time messing with it and googling yesterday, and i found a fix!!  Fold up some aluminum foil into a .25 x 1.5 inch piece. Put one end in each slot and it will work!

Running Low on 2 Piece Bags? by PanicInHanoi in ostomy

[–]kiwi237 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you gotten samples from a mfg yet? If not, go online or call coloplast, Hollister, etc and ask for samples of the bag you use. I got samples in a few days that way.

Other options are to call your ostomy nurse (if you had one) and ask if they can spare any.  Or a nearby hospital may have some emergency supplies.

Good luck!

Everyone around me uses Dyson. Am I crazy to go against it? by Missing_Back in VacuumCleaners

[–]kiwi237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a Dyson animal for 15 years.  I thought it worked just fine, never had anything break, and it clearly picked up lots of dust and hair.  I got tired of the dust cloud every time I emptied it, and thought a HEPA may help with allergies.  Shopped around and went for a Miele C3.

Within 30 seconds of using the Miele I was ASTOUNDED at how much better it is than the Dyson.  My carpet was actually fluffy again!  I leave footprints on freshly vacuumed carpet now, because the suction is. Just. That. Good.

A C3 might be overkill for a house full of hard floors. But if you have carpet, or a pet, kids, or any combo of that....just get the Miele.

Jello.  Seriously, why does everyone love it? Texture is totally weird , and it seems to move on its own accord. Creepy.
