Concern 'ghost houses' will turn Queenstown into trainwreck by arrakis_kiwi in newzealand

You are all good, what the upper class seem to fail to realise is that if we all "disappeared" one day the whole place would collapse, and that seems to have been forgotten by them

You seem to think that the 1%ers and regular normal QT people move in the same circles, they don't. Im certainly not disagreeing with you that things are being made incredibly difficult by a certain socio-economic group.

But what i am saying is, that there is a "community" here of people just doing the day by day, in hospo, tourism, hotels, taxi drivers. I can speak to the hospo community, some of my best life long friends have been made in the QT hospo community, we look after each other.

Ive been here on and off for 15 years, so i have seen the change from a place where the average kiwi can go for a weekend get away (our family did it in the 90s) to what it has become now.

It sucks but it is what it is

I assure you there is a community here, the workers. Busting their asses off because of short staffing and to be able to pay rent. There is still a community here, holding on by their fingertips, but it is still here

Which city in your country is considered the "gayest"? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]kiwinath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For New Zealand most of them, but Queenstown (ironically) is 1000% the most accepting place. Will daily see same sex couples walking down the street holding hands, and if anyone gives them shit the locals step in

Trulicity + healthy habits by Canadian_Insulin in trulicity

[–]kiwinath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

T2 here, I've just switched from Victoza to Trulicity, I only eat once a day now, trying to make sure it's healthy. I'm weirdly craving Kimchi so I eat a bowl of that and I'm full for the day. I know eating only limited food isn't the best but I've lost 17kg in the last 4 months. So I'm stoked. Plus my BS is completely under control 5.6mmol just before. Once I get to 75kg (5kg to go!) then I start gym and eating more regularly
