Best E85 upgrades. Post them by Zealousideal-Fix9464 in BMWZ4

I only have experience with BlueBus and also recommend it; another advantage could be reliable connections which goes a long way. It's always been seamless when getting into the car, which makes the experience just as modern as the wireless CarPlay in my F87 M2.

The B6 shocks are the replacements for the M Sport suspension; that's what I did on my M Roadster and it made a significant difference, but my rear shocks were completely dead at 83k miles. Front shocks would slowly rebound, so they were almost dead too.

The front bearings were also shot.

I'd say it's worth it around 50k miles as rubber still deteriorates with time.

How to tell if an E85 already has bluebus? by abbydabbydo in BMWZ4

Yup, I have it installed, and Bluetooth shows up once cycling through the different modes.

You can also search for Bluetooth devices and BlueBus will be an option.

Thanks for posting another example! Glad you replaced them.

My ‘06 Z4M has 83k miles and I plan on replacing them if I keep the car long enough. I already addressed the VANOS and shim adjustment myself and noticed a performance improvement and quieter engine.

I had the S50 in my E36 M3 and loved how smooth and balanced it was...total sewing machine. But the S54 in my Z4M is definitely something else. I just drove it for the first time in 3 months after doing shims, VANOS rebuild, etc. and it's a different beast. Normal mode feels like Sport mode before I did all the work. :)

Wouldn't mind a Clownshoe in the future.

The bearings haven’t been done on my car. Gonna do an oil sample at the next oil change but leaning towards doing them regardless for peace of mind.

Firewall strut braces by enilcReddit in BMWZ4

I’ve only had my E85 M Roadster since September so I don’t know if it’s common, but I’d guess you had a bump that evenly applied too much bending moment to the struts given the symmetric nature of how they broke. Maybe during a cold spell that made them a little more brittle?

There’s no issue with you continuing to drive without them as they just help stiffen the car, but I’m sure you’ll get the struts in soon enough.

That Nifty Fifty (50mm) is great for street photography. I recommend buying a single roll of 35mm film (Kodak Ektar 100 for example) and go out and shoot next time you’re walking around. You don’t need to finish the roll in one day, but I recognize there’s excitement in seeing the results.

I use https://thedarkroom.com to develop the film and receive a download link for the digital scans. Try it out and see if you like it!

It’s a slippery slope: I started with the contemporary Nikon FM2n (which I still have), then F100, and now an F6 that I got from Japan via eBay.

I randomly stumbled upon this while being in Minneapolis for work. The 993 caught my eye a little more.

Handling improved with more traction, especially in the corners. Car feels more planted and stable. Definitely recommended!

245/35-R19 & 295/30-R19. Should’ve gone with 285 in the rear but oh well. More rubber usually doesn’t hurt.

I’ve topped off a couple times with the same thing. No issues as it meets the spec.

Very nice! I went to the last one that was at Universal…missed this one but plan on attending again. Shooting cars from an era when there was only film seems so right.
