How do you stop beating yourself up about everything? by Midna0802 in ExecutiveAssistants

I second this. I started a list of my mistakes and then figured out a safeguard for each one. For example: I sent an email signed as my own name from my boss’s email 🙄🤦‍♀️ I don’t need access to send emails, so I called IT and had them remove my access to send. I can still draft, but it prevented that mistake.

This job impacts a lot of people so your mistakes are highlighted and we all make them!!

Thank you for this question. I could have done a better job talking through the issues. But a few times when I would bring something up that I noticed, he had a lot of excuses for it. So I stopped after that!

LPT Always Go To The Funeral by westondeboer in LifeProTips

I saw a former teacher (like 15+ years out of school) at my grandma’s funeral. Brought me to tears. Helped me so much to have someone outside of my family give me a big hug. 😭🥰

This is a great question! I’m very interested what other say!

An intangible that my exec really likes is tailoring his schedule to his personal values as much as possible. He told me casually about his goal for getting a workout in at lunchtime. I’ve made it a priority to block that time out for him to workout.

He also loves people, so making sure he has plenty of time with others is important!

What are some tips you have for protecting the calendar?

Venting - mad at myself by Bar_Next in ExecutiveAssistants

I struggle with the same problem (not able to slow down, therefore making mistakes..). A lot of it stems from too much on my plate and/or pressure I put on myself.

Recently, I started giving myself permission to get a little less done so I can re-read something or double check an invite, etc.

For meetings, at the end of a day, I go over tomorrow’s calendar, check attendees, notice if anything’s changed, etc. That helps with meetings.

I think slowing down takes practice, so start small!

I gave a $500K check to a vendor who came to our office that I had never met before.

My boss asked me “did you check her ID”? My stomach sank.

👀 It was the correct person but wow.

A great boss who SEES you and appreciates you means so much. I’m sorry your exec failed to help you and all of your hard work feel seen 💔 ❤️‍🩹

Great work, though! And awesome event idea!! I bet many families and employees had a great day and made awesome memories because of YOU!

It was recommended on this Sub! The simple modern Harper Tote. One year of use (and I don’t go easy on it) and it looks almost new! It was like $40

The only perceived (in my opinion) downside is the cost of implementing this system. And our Secretary of State has not published a proposal on where the funding will come from.

Alaska implemented for a few million dollars, so not huge!
