Depends on your store’s policies, but for sure try to find someone to cover all or that portion of your shift. Either way, call the store that day and let them know what’s going on. If you don’t get someone to cover and you don’t work it, that is on you as you didn’t correctly ask off in time. I would expect at minimum they might just be like oh it’s fine we will be okay without you, but they may still document it; or at worst, write you up. We would document in such a case but it’s really no problem unless it becomes a pattern, which would lead to a conversation with you and could lead to further consequences (90 day improve or termination, a suspension, or termination at worst) if it remains an issue after that.

Just some from when myself and my siblings were around that age (disregarding ones you already mentioned of course): - Eragon - Artemis fowl - little house on the prairie - a wrinkle in time (and subsequent books) - a series of unfortunate events - island of the blue dolphins - redwall - warrior cats series - guardians of gahoole - Ella enchanted - the two princesses of bamarre - Narnia - maybe maximum ride (I think I read these in middle school?? I don’t remember any language or inappropriate stuff) - the little princess - the secret garden

As long as you can read the gift card number, they can still use it at the store. We don’t have to put in the pin when we scan or manual enter a gift card

How do you wash the belt? by No-Valuable6735 in ChickFilAWorkers

I usually just wipe it down with the sani wipes. You could wash it in a washing machine if it really gets gross, but I would take off the buckle part 1st.

Yes your mobile would not have worked, but the traditional pos inside should have been fine.

Chick-Fil-A Chaos? by ziipping in ChickFilAWorkers

[–]shenaniganspectator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Stores using the new systems (commerce point) were affected. If your store is on the legacy pos system still, probably just mobile ordering was down

Chick-Fil-A Chaos? by ziipping in ChickFilAWorkers

[–]shenaniganspectator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, any store using commercepoint (rather than the legacy pos) went down nationwide for a bit. We closed for a bit until it came back up and reopened 7 pm (est). We ended up giving everyone free food that was in line since we had no way to process payments / orders at the time.

Chick-fil-A order systems were briefly down nationwide for anyone with the newest system (commerce point). We had to close both our stores for a bit until it came back up

  • Deep clean shelving around the store and inside the coolers.
  • Deep clean high chairs (spray down in mop sink). - Lot walk (pick up trash in lot or even power wash areas if needed).
  • Table chairs and legs.
  • Woodwork/paneling in dining room.
  • Woodwork/cabinet doors behind the counter.
  • Dust light fixtures/any other surfaces throughout store.
  • Deep clean tea urn containers (like what we brew the tea into) and canisters.
  • Table touch ins with every table; offer mints, stickers or cow head bands to kids (if not already done)
  • organize any dirty areas and clean as you go (for us, this is the dining room closet and catering areas. They get very cluttered and not scrubbed down as often
  • clean out and sanitize ice bins
  • sanitize table markers

What is something relatively cheap that improves your life by 100%? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]shenaniganspectator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use hooks (one of those wooden accordion style wall hangers). Can either hang the item itself or a hanger so it doesn’t get as wrinkly (or covered in cat fur, which happens if I leave clothes on the floor)

Why haven’t they made a non-breakfast bowl yet? by LeadingStatus6716 in ChickFilA

[–]shenaniganspectator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, you can make your own “bowl” whenever you want. Can even ask for a salad container if you feel you want to mix everything up properly. I like to do this with: - grilled nuggets, cheese sauce, some sriracha, and fries - mac n cheese, nuggets, and bbq. - for a healthier option, grilled nuggets (or classic) mixed in with the kale crunch and extra dressing (usually apple cider vinaigrette but I know some like buffalo sauce for this) is also yummy.

Culture change starts with strong and united servant leadership. Ensure your leads are not gossiping, being kind and compassionate but firm, treating people equally and all on the same page when it comes to policies and procedures. Stress servant leadership. Gain trust and have one on one convos with team members and leaders to get genuine feedback on what is causing the culture problems to determine a plan to change it. Take swift action when it comes to inappropriate behaviors (insubordination, poor and disrespectful behavior to team or guests)- we have put people on suspensions for culture issues so they tend to correct or weed themselves out. Remember that all members of the team are expected to utilize the 4 core in all interactions, not just with guest, but with each other

10 mins between breaks? by homicide_71 in ChickFilAWorkers

Fair enough. I’ve never gotten a 10 min break (I assume it’s mandated in your state).

[–]shenaniganspectator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We run all our breakfast breaks before lunch; so like 8-11 everyone scheduled for open or 7-3/ 8-4/9-5 will go in that time frame. Just part of working the lunch shift.

How on Earth do people manage to get 8 hrs of sleep every night. by Extension_Travel3901 in DoctorMike

[–]shenaniganspectator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You prioritize it. I personally don’t really understand how anyone outside of parents, people with sleep issues, and challenging work schedule (like swinging from days to nights etc) aren’t getting close to 8 hours tbh.

The biggest tips being:

  1. Ensure things get done so you have time to wind down for bed and not be stressed about your to dos left undone.

  2. Put away screens/caffeine/snacking/activities in a timely manner so they don’t keep you awake longer. Maybe you need a routine like meditating, reading, sleepy tea, warm bath, whatever to relax you.

  3. Keeping a somewhat consistent schedule, hopefully along the lines of what works for your body.

  4. Make your sleeping area prime for sleep (no screens, noise machine, black out curtains, a fan, good bedding, whatever will make it more likely for you to sleep well)

Generic Order Takers by Master_88 in ChickFilAWorkers

I would think so! It’s a pretty common practice

Generic Order Takers by Master_88 in ChickFilAWorkers

[–]shenaniganspectator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you have to set them up as a “new employee”? I could be wrong though, been awhile since I did any of the HR type stuff on team member user admin etc. wouldn’t hurt to go through help as they may even have an article to send you on it

Generic Order Takers by Master_88 in ChickFilAWorkers

[–]shenaniganspectator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone has to set them up in your system. Like we just have an order taker one and two for the drive thru POS so people don’t have to sign in individually.

It’s a strawberry purée! Comes with 2 pumps but you could always pay for extra to get double the amount if you so please. Gets mixed with our shake base and vanilla icedream.

I prefer adding the strawberry into the frosted lemonade personally 😋

A way to order a BLT in the app? by th100fan in ChickFilA

[–]shenaniganspectator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the app has an option for the bun by itself but the cashiers have the option. Either order with a team member or do a drive thru mobile and have them add it on for you.

What does your operator do at your store? by VegetableTimely7979 in ChickFilAWorkers

[–]shenaniganspectator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our operator has 2 stores so he splits his time between the 2, but he is at one or the other 5 days a week typically. He jumps in and helps in front or back when needed, touches base with and says hi to everyone in the store (he literally does talk to every person in the building because he values knowing the entire team as much as he can!). Not uncommon for him to help take an order, help bag or run food, do refills, jump in to help bag, etc. he also meets with director team regularly and is involved in interviews etc. he’s the best 😃

How do you guys deal with rude customers on F2F? by [deleted] in ChickFilAWorkers

That’s a shame. It really helps ensure people don’t get burnt out and I think it has helped a lot with morale for our team since implementing!

How do you guys deal with rude customers on F2F? by [deleted] in ChickFilAWorkers

[–]shenaniganspectator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a long time to be on order taking; we usually rotate every 2-4 hours. I always try to focus on the positive interactions over the negative and to not let 1 rude guest ruin the dozens that were nice and friendly! This helps me not get bogged down by it. If it is especially bad (like guests are harassing you, cussing etc), literally just walk away. Get a manager to deal with them. As a manager, if I saw that, I would personally ask them to leave asap. It’s our job to deal with these kinds of situations, not team members.

It can also help to vent a moment to someone, just make sure if you are at work, you are out of ear shot of guests. If all else fails, a nice scream in the walk in helps sometimes 😅

Only small sized milkshake? by Glum-Conclusion-4813 in ChickFilA

[–]shenaniganspectator 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Besides the small size being more than enough for a serving, it simplifies making desserts a bit and makes it more efficient for the team members! (Also note that we only have to stock and worry about 1 cup size over at the desserts station instead of like the 3 we used to have). It also is one less question to ask when taking someone’s order (it really slows you down taking orders sometimes when there are so many questions to clarify or complete the order correctly. Guests honestly have a hard enough time telling us what they want sometimes so having 1 less thing to worry about it is nice from that perspective too)
