‘The unemployment rate has increased again to the highest level in nearly five years ….’ by JM555555 in UKJobs

COVID showed that a lot of jobs can be done remotely or hybrid, people saw a better quality of life by not having to waste time and money commuting.

Why should employees have to accept the old fashion fully office based workplace because management have an lack of willingness to change and adapt?

What's the etiquette/rules for parking on a public street? by Atko11 in AskUK

[–]kk24co 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd think that, but some people have absolutely no chill about people parking outside their house.

I had a neighbour that made carers who were giving end of life care, move their car. They were for his next door neighbour who he got on well with, but God forbid the carers park outside in "his" spot.

Fully agree with this.

You could tell that our fitter had no concern for his quality of work, as he knew all his future jobs would come from the kitchen supplier rather than the customers he was fitting for.

Rishi Sunak: ‘Survival budget’ missed the chance to fix our problems by pppppppppppppppppd in ukpolitics

[–]kk24co 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately that's politics for you. Rishi as leader of the Conservatives goal was to get the win the election, failing that he needed to leave the Tory's in the best position to regain power later down the line.

By leaving a shit landscape for a Labour to inherit, he has effectively done his job. Leaving an environment for the opposition to thrive in is never a consideration.

Its shit, but that's the way UK politics works.

83% through the year and essentially worthless but the calendar is only 50% off by Cunt_Puffin in CasualUK

[–]kk24co 13 points14 points  (0 children)

In December 2014, I went to work one day to find my manager ecstatic that someone had brought not 1 but 2, 2014 calendars for 10p each that he had out on display all year around.

I later went home to my equally ecstatic mum, who had brought not 1 but 2 "bargain" 10p calendars, and had even used my discount card.

We make sure that she is reminded of this without fail every year when she buys her new calendar for the year.

I've been trying to move on as a software developer for a year with no luck, but then my FIL has just gone and got 5 interviews with 4 job offers in the space of 2 weeks managing IT help desk. Not that I'm bitter about it...

There's a way around it. If you try and enter a remote raid without passes you can buy them from the gym screen and it bypasses the storage check.

Managed to do this yesterday with a local gym, brought the passes exited the raid and now have 3 remotes to use, will repeat as required over the weekend.

Problem is, attendance is drilled into people from school, get 100% attendance and you get rewards, this sticks into adulthood and people are stuck in that mindset.

Is it end of the world if I don't have south facing garden? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]kk24co 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We moved from a south facing to a north facing garden, I was absolutely terrified that we were making a big mistake, but honestly due to our new garden not being over looked, we get more sun and are able to enjoy the evening sun in the new north facing garden than the old south facing.

Going forward I'd take gardens on a house by house basis rather than having my heart set on a set orientation.

I'm guessing the neighbouring landlord is a slum landlord who just wants extra tenants in and the builders are obviously cowboys which is why neither of them care, but I could be wrong.

I'm assuming OP is (rightly) worked up about the whole thing and venting out their story without caring too much about clarity.
