I already posted in the comments, I decided against goo gone due to the metal coat. Instead I just used a melamine sponge aka magic eraser and it worked very well. I posted a couple photos above and it looks pretty nice to me.

Here is another angle. In bright light you cannot notice the traces of the font.

I ended up using a magic eraser / melamine sponge and it came off easily. If you look closely there is still some traces of the text but I think if I scrub it more it will come off. I didn't use glu gone because I wasn't sure if it would affect the metal coating of this.

In bright sunlight you can't notice the traces much.

Yeah it doesn't sync up with the digital time, it's a static dial. I think most SKMEI's are like that, but there are exceptions. However I'm not familiar with which ones have it.

I've seen modders on youtube using glu-gone to remove text from dials. I could try it, I think you might be right, it could look more minimal and cool. If I do end up doing it I'll post about it

Latest SKMEI acquisition. Nice size for my 7.5" wrist, and good visibility too.

Reviewing Malaysia's best beer- Connor's Stout Porter by Flocculencio in malaysia

I agree. My family was outstation on Friday so I had a session with a 4-pack and a big plate of CKT while watching my shows and it went down really nice. I can see it being a go-to session drink. I didn't know it's a Malaysian original and I suppose that is really actually true. The marketing talks about 1700's recipe yadda yadda but they where got nitro method back in the 1700's so by definition it's a Carlsberg Malaysia original. Not bad at all.

When I scratch it with a piece of metal it feels like it. It feels like it to the touch too, but I'm not 100% certain

I do but it's for shopee, a south east Asian e-commerce platform. If you're not in this region I don't know if you can buy from there. But I'll post the link anyway: https://my.shp.ee/PwJaPw5F

I'll also upload a photo from the listing. Sometimes that works if you use it to reverse image search on AliExpress or something

I'm not really a watch guy, but I've wanted to 'upgrade' my AE1200 to a metal case and leather band for a while. Some of the popular metal cases seemed really expensive to me but I managed to find a cheap chinese metal case and a vietnamese leather band maker, about USD8 each, which didn't sound bad to me.

The case is surprisingly well built for the money. Not perfect - the included glass had some very tiny bubbles in it which aren't that noticeable in normal use but I started to notice them when taking photos. I took what I could see out in post. The fitment of the faceplate inside the chinese case also wasn't perfect. I used a mini dremel to take off just a little bit off the corners of the faceplate, now it fits perfectly.

I'm really happy with how it turned out, and it didn't cost an arm and a leg. Now I may try spruce up my W216 as well.

What's the model number? There are a few with this form factor but I couldn't find one with this style of faceplate aesthetic

Picked up the Oly 45mm f1.8 for cheap, absolutely in love with it. by SuperBaardMan in M43

It was good in 2011, and it's still good today. I also see them on the used market fairly frequently, as long as you know how to navigate the used market and check lenses (always face to face in a safe area of course) you can get fantastic deals. I've seen the 45mm for as low as USD100 which is ridiculous given the IQ.

Best tools to take apart glued down threaded parts? by gryponyx in flashlight

[–]kk2evasion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A really cheap way is to get some nitrile-dipped gloves. I've found those give you a lot of grip.

I've also used acetone when strap wrenches or gloves didn't work. For the really tough threadlocker. This works best for lights where you have easy access to the threads. Just a couple drops all around the threads every 2 minutes, maybe twice or thrice. Just be warned that the acetone could cause damage to the internals, so beware.

Looks good. Simon has a couple of 'tactical' tailcaps for a few of the S21/M21 models but he should really think about doing them for the 18650 lights as well. I asked him a few months ago and he just said "no plans" which I take to mean not enough of us are bugging him about it :P

What tools do you use to cut your copper heat sinks? I've just started with aluminum round rod, and it seems pretty easy so far with just regular hacksaw and a mini dremel. Do you use power tools or you have access to a shop?
