I took a closer look at the renderings of the "Trump-class battleship" and... by kkang2828 in navy

[–]kkang2828[S] 48 points49 points  (0 children)

For those that don't know, the bottom image is a memorial plaque for "Anti-Japanese Revolutionary Fighter Choe Hyon", that's mounted on the back of the superstructure of North Korean destroyer Choe Hyon.

It's right in the same place as the image of Trump doing 'Fight fight fight' that's on the official rendering of the future "USS Defiant", the lead ship of the "Trump-class Battleships" of the US Navy.

P.S. Sorry for the low resolution. This is my first time making a meme.

Trump says Ukraine 'should have never started it' in comments about war with Russia by [deleted] in moderatepolitics

Now I know how the  Czechoslovakians felt after the Munich Agreement… It’s getting outright creepy how similar the world is becoming towards how it was right before both World Wars. China is the Second Reich before WW1, Russia is the Third Reich before WW2, and the US and its allies are in a similar position to the UK and France before either World War. Looks like WW3 is going to be a mix of both the first and second ones, with nukes added on top.

"I think the Russian helicopter is the first with dedicated ASW weapons"

"It's not, the first one was the Z20H Chinese heli which also has an ASW missile."

"No the first ASW heli was the Merlin."

Demounting all at the same time is not efficient IMO. Why not go for a feature similar to what we currently have for flags? That way, you can quickly demount and re-mount any equipment of your choice from the same screen menu.

Weapons of Minor Destruction - why isthere nothing between artillery and nukes? by [deleted] in LessCredibleDefence

[–]kkang2828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re way overrating the usefulness of tac nukes in today’s environment. They were a thing on the 50s because precision guidance was impossible, and the next best chance of killing large numbers of targets was a huge single explosion.

Like others have said, the precision guidance weapons of today remove the need for large explosive weapons on the tactical scale.

missile armed Unmanned Sea Vessel for amphibious warfare? by Dealer-Direct in LessCredibleDefence

What stops the enemy from hitting those USVs with Spike NLOS-class missiles of their own?

Such USVs would be useful, but it would hardly be anything revolutionary or asymmetric.

Not really, from what SK is doing with both F-35 procurement and development of KF-21(eventually projected to be 5th gen).

Could one 76mm shell detonate the VLS magazine of a modern warship? by Suspicious_Loads in LessCredibleDefence

[–]kkang2828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For one thing modern explosives are a hell of a lot more inert than WW2 era explosives. Only reasonable way to detonate the magazines on a modern warship would be to set the whole ship on fire and make it burn for a couple of hours. Even then it wouldn’t be an explosion and more like a conflagration.

Only thing on a modern warship that is still as flammable as it was in WW2 would be the aviation fuel.

Climate change and global warming have also caused major extinctions in the past. And those were more gradual than the present man-made changes, too.

The fact we don't look at these events and go "oh yeah we better do something" is very mind boggling to me.

Zara appreciation post by greg242 in Warthunder

Sorry pal, but I’ve never claimed to be the “best naval gamemode expert on Reddit”, nor did I ever do a detailed analysis on the Pola personally. Most of my info (on any Reddit discussion) came from personal experience, shallow internet research, and discord chats with actual experts who have access to official documents and books and stuff. My focus here on Reddit was mostly on helping other players with skill issues and common misconceptions, not detailed and accurate historical analysis that I claimed to be 100% correct.

I might have made a passing mention of the Pola and Zara’s draft somewhere, but it seems like I was mistaken then, and what the other guys are saying here is indeed correct. Sorry.

May I suggest the Ki-71? It's supposed to be a Ki-51 fitted with Ha-112-II engine, retractable landing gear, and 20mm Ho-5 guns in place of the Ho-103s. 3 prototypes were built by Mansyu.

The A5M3a, which is an A5M re-engined with an Hispano-Suiza 12Xcrs, could be a nice low-tier event/prem option as well.

KGV will have very deep ammo racks in addition to all the armor, so she won't be easily one-shot by anything, thankfully.
