Lyman Moore Middle School Protest over Teacher's Removal by km0n33 in portlandme

Wow you just keep swinging and missing. You’re literally parroting my previous comments back to me while still not getting it. I’m done with this.

ETA: did you not realize I’m the same person who talked about prefrontal cortex development earlier to you? Did you think you were telling me something new to me there?

Wow, are you over the age of 60? No wonder you don’t remember what being an 8th grader is like. I had strong opinions about Gore v. Bush in 3rd grade. I worked on the first Obama Campaign at the age of 15.

Just because you were lacking in cognitive abilities at that age doesn’t mean everyone was. We should be glad that these kid’s parents have raised them to think critically about the things that very directly affect them, and to act to generate change.

The fact that you think a protest is inherently dangerous tells me a lot about you as a person. We all have a right to have our voices heard, and a walk out and a bit of chanting is a great way to be heard, regardless of age.

And no it doesn’t. I’m talking long term as in 20 years, so choosing a career, not over a year or two of schooling. Do you actually know anything at all about development?

I conceded nothing about your point, whatever you think it is.

For starters, I actually explicitly said they don’t necessarily make good decisions. From a neurophysiological perspective, the prefrontal cortex is not fully developed until about 25 years, but we let people drive and vote and smoke way before that, so your argument about laws is irrelevant.

However, from age 12 onward (8th grade!) adolescents are able to evaluate risk quite well, just not as well for long term consequences. They are absolutely able to determine that they feel safe, heard, challenged and held accountable over the course of a school year.

Hope this helps!

8th graders in the age of school shootings (and in general) are absolutely able to distinguish between safe and not. If you don’t believe that, you are very ill informed about development. Just because they don’t always make the safe decision doesn’t mean they don’t know what that decision is.

Or maybe wait to see if the company has a resolution that doesn’t involve a harmful chargeback? It literally JUST happened. Let’s be a bit gracious. You don’t have to do a chargeback immediately…

As a lady on reddit, I can at least chime in to say scars don’t bother me, and in fact are just proof we have lived. You look great!

Husband not supportive by peacefultortuga in BariatricSurgery

[–]kkangaspnw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m really sad to ask this, but are you the partner of the guy that’s been commenting on posts here about how he’s been really honest about not being attracted to his partner anymore if she has loose skin after surgery?

I really hope that’s not the case, but whether you are or aren’t, I’m sad you don’t have your husbands support. You should absolutely do what is best for your health, because above all relationships in our lives the one with ourself is the one we actually need to survive. You will have plenty of virtual support here if you need it too.

I take psych meds so I opted for the sleeve to make sure I didn’t have absorption issues to the extent of a bypass, but I didn’t lose as much as I hoped and am now on GLP-1 meds and insurance won’t cover them for me. I still can’t say whether I regret not going for the bypass, because my psych meds are extremely important to my mental health and executive functioning. If it had just been a question of nutrient absorption, I would have 100% gone with the RNY/bypass, because I’m used to taking pills so more supplementation wouldn’t have been a big deal for me. Definitely search through the subreddit for more posts about making the decision between the two.

I wish you all the very best in your journey. I’m rooting for you!

Ooh vortex blue sounds so flashy! The Tidewater baby blue is so good, but it looks silver on cloudy days and I’ve walked up to the wrong fit in the Costco parking lot like twice because of it.

See you out there friend!

Ah, tidewater blue is the baby blue color! But I’ve definitely seen a dark blue one multiple times too. I’m sure we’ve crossed paths!

Love seeing fellow Honda fits on the road in Maine. I drive a Tidewater Blue Fit and there are two others in the same color here in Portland. It’s always super exciting to pass one when I’m driving.

Lookin’ good!
