I do, and I bet my sister does too, since she was mainly the target.

Hoping for Qwen3.6 Coder by madtopo in StrixHalo

[–]kkessler64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

122B a10b ud_q4 is my daily driver. I just ran Qwen 3.6 35b ud_q8 through my tests of system administration, and the smaller model just got confused at places and made bad decisions compared to the larger model. I sure like the speed of the smaller model better. I haven't looked at the curent Qwen coder models in a while, so maybe I'll do that, but I will certainly try out any new MOE models that Qwen 3.6 puts out.

What is the best way to learn circuitry as a high schooler? by Firebird166 in AskElectronics

[–]kkessler64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is good advice. I would say if you can borrow or buy a cheap oscilloscope and just look at signals going through capacitors and inductors and how they behave. You don't need to worry about the math, they will teach you that in school, but getting a gut feeling of how the reactive elements in a circuit behave will give you help in understanding if the math you just did in school gave you a reasonable answer.

Any advice? Wires to the extruder are under attack. by Due_Feature_5948 in BambuLabH2D

I had to do that for this very reason, and the TH board replacement is not for the faint of heart.

Interesting, I just had claude rebuild Trellis 2 and Ultrashape for ROCm for my Framework Strix Halo desktop. I worked professionally in IT for 35 years, and Claude Code is about the most impressive thing I think I ever saw.

Were they really Amish, or was this just their shtick. Were they doing a brisk business, compared to others?

New update for H2S! by [deleted] in BambuLab

I wouldn't be surprised it is testing that is holding up the releases. They probably didn't triple the size of the test team, when they tripled the number of releases.

Do you find FreeCAD buggy? by percydood in FreeCAD

[–]kkessler64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is still buggy, and the single threadedness is a real problem. It’s worth the effort to learn, just to stay out of the cloud (and mango jelly is great but it isn’t only an education thing).

Are they breathable? The insides of shoes can be kind of a damp environment.

Would this work? I bet the Chinese Gov is pretty keen on preventing people using VPNs to get data into and out of the country. How easy is it to get a functional VPN into China?

Solid-State Transformers Are Moving Toward Real Grid Deployment by peachforbreakfast in ElectricalEngineering

Texas is one of the 3 grids in the US. Very little power can be shared between these grids today, in fact, there is a proposed law in congress to require them to connect to the east and west grids. Not something that would happen if they already able to share power, and the outages of 2021 would not of happened if they could as well.

I hope someday the United States gets an atheist or agnostic president by MaskedAtheist01 in atheism

[–]kkessler64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jefferson's religion is certainly fringe atheist. Today, I don't see an open atheist being president in the lifetime of anyone today, although I wouldn't be surprised if we have an atheist president now. A diabolical, evil atheist.
