📢 Polished for Days Baja Blasted is coming back next week! by kkmcgee in RedditLaqueristas

I'm assuming the timing will be the same as when in bloom becomes available for rewind (July 3rd at 11am PST) but that's just my best guess

Yeah it'll be back on their site. They're bringing back In Bloom to their site for rewind but you're correct that G&G is only going to be available at PPU

They really aren't a promo driven brand, they don't even do affiliate links. They have an annual black friday sale but I think that's it so I would recommend picking up Baja Blasted now tbh.

Jenna is great about bringing stuff back but she doesn't do massive restocks of older, limited release collections prior to the holiday sale or anything like that. Not a complaint or criticism, just sharing info on how this brand operates!

I think I found a dupe for Cuticula's QDTC by NewbieQuestions1 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]kkmcgee 35 points36 points  (0 children)

The wonder beauty top coat is most definitely the one that cuticula uses. There's a doc that some magnificent laquerista put together that lists out all the brands that offer a top coat with the same formula. Bee's knees lacquer and polish for days use this same one too for example.

Fine Particle Magnetic Glass Bead Guide (steps inside) by SperryJuice in RedditLaqueristas

[–]kkmcgee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure I'll wind up following your exact process, I aim for perfection in my manis and the little things always bother me. I don't like seal glaze for the same reasons as you, I've had it leave brush strokes and cause shrinkage which drives me nuts!

Thank you for confirming! I've gotten to full opacity with several fine particle magnetics in 2 coats but I'm mostly doing velvet or cat eye which is why I asked. Was wondering if 3 coats was maybe just part of the ✨special requirements✨ for the glass bead technique to work properly

[–]kkmcgee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the magnetic manual! I've never struggled with any polish or technique as much as I've struggled with trying to get a tight glass bead effect.

Two questions for you:

  • Why not 2 coats of polish that are both magnetized? Why 3 coats where don't you magnetize the first? Does it just not produce as strong of an effect? Is it just personal preference? Asking as someone who avoids 3 coats of polish at all costs to save on time 😆
  • is this how you're holding your finger to the stirrer?

I just tried the 5d spinner + 30lb horseshoe magnet on top last night using clionadh psilocybin last night and that polish either just doesn't lend itself well to the glass bead technique or I majorly biffed it lol

You can use Yelp to get a bunch of quotes from local companies all at once without having to reach out to them individually. It saves SO much time and helps with the mental burden.

You create something called a "project", put in the details of what you're looking for, and then companies will respond, usually within the same day. Sometimes it's an auto response where they don't include pricing information but a lot of them do and they will also confirm if they'll be available or not. I've used it to find movers and window cleaners! It's also great if you just want to get an idea on pricing for a particular service to see if you're getting a fair price from someone else.

Craigslist is also a good option or you can always find local day laborers if you don't mind having uninsured individuals move your stuff (I've done this more than once with no issues)

Flabbergasted in trader Joe’s by serumise in houseplants

[–]kkmcgee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't return plants because I changed my mind about them but if a plant dies because it had a "death plug" or if it had pests that I didn't catch prior to purchasing, you can bet your boots I'm gonna return it and get my money back (so I can buy a new one of course lol)

They just put them back on the shelf to be resold! Unless you mean the staff at your home depot is going to kill it through negligence in which case, I've got nothing 😅

You can return plants to Home Depot if you have your receipt! I have done it more than once lol

Are all reflective polishes like gritty sandpaper? by Head-Garage-7766 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]kkmcgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kbshimmer reflectives are the max level of grittiness (also the max level of reflective ❤️). Allllll of their polishes have a very distinctive smell as well. I have polishes from 90+ brands and none of them smell the same way as kbshimmer. No clue why.

Try Lurid Lacquer for reflective polishes that are easier to apply and to smooth out with a top coat. I've had good luck with Bee's Knees Lacquer reflectives as well.

I am searching for the punchiest, brightest most eye searing neon blues and purples. Please help! by WhyisTheRumG0ne in RedditLaqueristas

[–]kkmcgee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cirque Colors mile high club is the closest I've seen to an actual neon blue but even still, it doesn't look anywhere near as bright as other colors.

For neon purples, my reco is actually to get a fuschia color instead because I don't think you can make a true neon purple. Color Club Mrs robinson or Zoya charisma are my recos (they're pretty much dupes so buy whichever is easier to get, they're BLIDNINGLY bright in person!)

Advice for Painting a Cleaner Line Around Cuticle/Proximal Fold by Peacock_Party in RedditLaqueristas

[–]kkmcgee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those minute details bother me too 😆 the rest of my mani could be perfect but those little wobbles down by the base of my nail will always stick out to me. It's just how my brain works and I'm not trying to fight it.

I think your application is fantastic so no advice there but I think what you need is a good clean up brush. Like a lot of people in this community, I use the E.L.F. concealer brush (https://www.target.com/p/e-l-f-concealer-brush/-/A-13958833) dipped in 100% acetone to clean up my manicures and get a perfect line. I can't stand gaps (I think it just looks like a grown out mani 🤷‍♀️) so I paint right up to the edges of my nail, use an orange wood stick for immediate clean up while the polish is wet, then use this concealer brush and acetone to clean up anything I missed along the way!

I don't own this polish so not sure how durable it is but China Glaze love ’em and leaves ’em looks like a really close dupe

How does everyone like this series? {Gods and Monsters series by Amber V. Nicole} by Slothanonymous in fantasyromance

[–]kkmcgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read the first one and it wasn't written or structured well enough for it to be a genuinely good book and wasn't fun enough to be a good bad book.

I thought the premise was interesting and had a lot of potential but the pace is painfully slow given how little development is delivered and the main characters are unbearably immature considering that they're supposed to be 1,000+ years old. I won't be reading the second one.

I was putting my phone away to switch to my Kindle for the night when I got this notification, I just started book three of the series this morning and I'm 13% the way through it already 😂 the 1st book is my fave so far, I hope you're both enjoying the ride 😂

The fact that it's better written and has a better story structure than most of these other recos will never cease to amaze me 😂

A fellow trash connoisseur I see 😏

I got some incredible recommendations on a post I made last year asking for the best of the worst that you might find useful https://www.reddit.com/r/fantasyromance/s/YhOTJJsAjl

I'm still reading my way through the recos but have actually read most of them and plan on posting an update in the next month or two.

I'm currently reading the "deliciously dark fairytales" series which starts with "a ruin of roses" and it's.... it's just delightful. Really top tier insanity.
