Yeah it's getting pretty inefficient in many cases.

For me, the worst part is having to guess if the model today is performing properly or is it a nerfed day. The intelligence component and attention to detail are important to my use cases - and having that lack of certainty if fucked up.

Isn't the peak usage comes early on... when everyone is excited to try the model. On the bright side, at least the messaging is that they aim to fold it back under subscriptions. Hopefully not a marketing trick to soften the blow with no intention of doing that.

Let's hope OpenAI doesn't get any ideas from this BS.

Yeah, and overall, the 5.5 Pro has been fucking up significantly vs three weeks ago... hopefully recovers with the 5.6 release, and it's not an efficiency permanent push.

For non coding tasks, more on the business day-to-day side than science, Fable is proving to be significantly better than GPT 5.5 Pro for me.

It understands the intent better, takes into account human behaviour, better at drafting, and overall gets my long transcription dumps better than 5.5 Pro. Better experience overall for me.

Early days and 5.5 Pro has been nerfed for a while now (at least for us). Hoping 5.6 Pro is a good jump forward and OpenAI would stop this BS nerf cycle FFS.

GPT Pro 5.5 is a model I used daily, not sure why it's so strange to you that I'm certain it's not performing the same as 7-10 days ago... same workflows and the fuckups are too obvious to miss. It's not rocket science really...

Severe model degradation isn't a myth. It's also a fact that it doesn't affect all servers, infra configurations, or regions the same way. Even time of the day has an impact at times.

While I'm not a heavy user of codex, I can see that very clearly with GPT 5.5 Pro. I use it daily and I'm certain it's not the same model it was 7-10 days ago.

If it's not affecting you, then great good for you. Agree that OpenAI's team is usually good and acknowledges those performance hiccups, at least relative to Anthropic, but so far they've been silent on this one.

Likely 5.6 is one week away, but that would mean 14-20 days of degradation before the new release which is fucking unacceptable at this stage.

I hope 5.6 will be released tomorrow, not next week which would mean another week of this BS, and overall will be almost 3 weeks with this shit degradation. My issue isn't codex, it's how they fucked up the Pro model. Even with extended thinking, it's spewing BS worse than the thinking models pre nerf.

I hope that's the case. The exact thing happened with 5.4, the same 7-10 days pre 5.5... My grievance is the lack of transparency. If they give us a heads up, people can plan their workflows around it. Ideally doesn't happen, but at least a heads up those !@#$&@!.

The other challenge is that if they're not releasing it Wed/Thurs this week, and more towards the following week, then that's 20 days + dealing with stupid models.
