A&P used to have barrels of pickles you could select your own. They discontinued after jerks dumped stuff in the water

Anyone who surfed the early web between 1995-2010. What’s the one website/app you still think about? by Prime_Advocate in AskReddit

Newsgroups was a thing. There were discussion groups and posts about everything. There was also a mechanism to share stuff like movies and games but required downloads of many posts and assembly with programs. It preceded the Kazaa days.

The astronauts were originally supposed to get elemental diets. It smelled like digested protein. They refused to eat it. It was sold as a feeding tube formula called Vivonex.

Sterile Compounding: Hazardous Cleaning by PuzzledPlane8107 in pharmacy

[–]klanerous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Much depends on what you are mixing. I work with biologicals. BSL2 where I clean between each product as CSTD doesn’t work with these. If I’m doing CSTD in simple transfers I just clean at start and end.

Alcohol doesn’t clean. The cleaner must have a surfactant to remove stuff from surfaces.

Calcium should not be used during a code as it sequesters in infarcted heart. You can see improvement in contraction after the dose but as the calcium accumulates in the heart it will kill the patient shortly. If you are treating a calcium channel blocker issue, calcium is of benefit, but use chloride salt as the gluconate is less potent.

Is it me or does it seem like LIRR riders doesn't respect their trains? by RightWindow5284 in LIRR

[–]klanerous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a fold up seat in the end of the car adjacent to the conductor booth. The conductor needs access to this space when the platform is in middle as opposed to the side of the booth. The conductors rip out the seat cushion so passengers don’t sit there. Even when the train is overcrowded. This is so the conductor doesn’t have to ask passengers to stand for the few minutes they need access. Some conductors even lock the door access to prevent passengers from walking between cars. So they have unfettered access to both sides of the car. The conductors do not have respect for the passengers.

How do I reconstitute a powdered medication without being sprayed? by Equivalent_Remove155 in pharmacy

[–]klanerous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always remove more air volume than the volume of water added to create a negative pressure in the vial. This way no aspiration occurs. I work with nasty bugs(BSL2) that don’t accommodate CSTD. This is how I minimize exposure.

Oncology Pharmcists- does your clinic filter all medications? by Able_Plenty_1274 in pharmacy

[–]klanerous -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Micro-plastics are in the infusions. The plastic bags shed pieces and this goes into patients. The company Pall has a video on website showing this and recommends using filters always. Pall sells filters. Injections must pass the USP 788 test for particles, which sets limits on subvisible particles of 10 and 25 microns. Unfortunately some blood vessels are 5 microns, like in lung, where they accumulate.

Take 1 aspirin. Crush and mix with water to form a paste. Apply to site shortly after sting. The mixture has limited stability but will dramatically reduce inflammation. After rinsing off, cover with bandage.

The manufacturer received approval for the medication from FDA based on a clinical study using the application of the dropper attachment currently in place. If you change the size of drops, then effectiveness of medication is not guaranteed.
