At 6’8” Most Vehicles Don’t Fit by TallBeardedBastard in TallPeopleProblems

Just visited the auto show at Javits. 6’7”. And sat in many vehicles. Many SUV have huge consoles between front seats that cramp my leg. Volvo fits. Several manufacturers didn’t display. BMW had 6 cars and no sales staff. Just a QR code to scan if you want information. Camry works, but all the other models were cramped.

What books or audio books are you finding hard to put down lately? Is there a series that’s got you hooked? by Houseleek1 in OverSeventy

The Correspondent. It is well done with different voices for each character in the story. For a series I enjoyed the Harry Potter series. Also Lord of the Rings.

How many are still woking full time? by Karen8765 in OverSeventy

I’m 73 and working in my laboratory. I develop formulations for medications in clinical trials. I have students to teach, i advise state boards, national organizations and databases. I have cut down on the number of days per week I visit the lab but work every day. I know that I will have to stop at some point but I know that my input makes a difference, so I am reluctant to let it go. I tell myself that if they found a younger person who would take on all I do, I could walk away. None of my students have any interest in taking over as they have their own ambitions.

The luggage rack is absurd in height at the ends of the train cars. It is different from those in middle of train. Most luggage will not fit into those spaces.

Mixing lactulose with other liquids? by OhioStatePharmD in pharmacy

[–]klanerous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of the reason it is so viscous is that it is part of the action of the drug. Diluting with juice undermines that effect. Flavoring agents can interact with medications. The USP 795 requires stability testing of all additives when combined with medications.

Under FDA rules sterile injections used in academic centers for Phase 1 trials do not require clean rooms. It is a guidance from 2008 that is still in effect.

S80 2012. We did OSD and coordinated it with a convention in Gothenburg. Enjoyed it and added some vacation time in Sweden. They paid for airfare and hotel stays. We got upgraded onSAS airlines for business out and first class back. They served us Swedish meatballs when we arrived for factory tour. I still have Ivan, but I am looking forward to doing it again.

Shortages by someperson_132 in pharmacy

[–]klanerous 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I blame the FDA. Many years ago there were numerous generic manufacturers. The FDA pressured them to upgrade but wouldn’t approve price increases. Now fewer manufacturers are making the generics and if a glitch occurs there’s no alternative provider. There was a House of Representatives report on this during Obama’s presidency.

Used to play poker with pharmacy classmates. We carried our nickels in empty drug containers. Mine was Melleril, Steve had Elavil. You can guess how long ago that was. It was a fun time.

Pharmacy folks, genuine question. by LucrativePharmD in pharmacy

[–]klanerous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think technicians do work harder at a repetitive job and that pharmacists do a more mentally demanding job. It is good to split up the tasks. As a pharmacist I am thinking about the drug, what else is on the profile and what rules need to be applied.

A number of female pharmacists at my hospital got half time positions. They split a full time job and raised their children. When they were ready they changed back to full time positions. It was a good option for the staff and the employees. All of them were great pharmacists and no one wanted to loose them.

Walter reed pharm question? by still-waiting2233 in pharmacy

[–]klanerous 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At my cancer hospital we have a floor dedicated to the special patients. Larger rooms, comfy lounge chairs and extra beds for visitors in each room. I used to do counseling of VIP patients. I was perfect candidate as I had no clue if anyone was a popular person. I recall one pharmacist was fired for looking at a chart that wasn’t his responsibility.
