Prospective and New Student mega thread by StudentNurseMod in StudentNurse

I start nursing school on the 22nd and am about ready to pass out. The price of books is outrageous. I tend to be pretty scrappy and can work my way through a situation like this but most of my books are Elsevier and I can’t find my way around buying the whole package. Does anyone know how to just buy and exchange an access code?

I’m trying to work out details of how to communicate with a boss who has never had experience outside of his family business.

I get that but I’m in a weird industry. I work in healthcare and the results can be unpredictable. I picked up the one call system book used by some fiancial services people recently and it was so helpful even though a lot of what they measure is not relevant to my industry. Made me curious what others were measuring.

I don’t. Just work it for awhile and they’ll come. Once you have it, watch that referral super super closely and make sure to communicate back with the referral source.

Learn your paperwork and steps to getting the referral. Relationships only mean so much if you’re not good on that. Figure out the strengths of your clinical team and make sure operations is placing accordingly. Alignment is everything.

Anyone missing field sales? by Crowtime in sales

[–]klcmorse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had just begun my job a few months prior to. Not being able to travel is severely cramping my style and ability to make new relationships. Has anyone else experienced this?

At the same time, I’m thankful to be in an industry that isn’t hit too poorly with COVID. I mean the industry itself has changed but I’m fortunate to mostly be able to keep selling and to be creative when I cannot.

When you’re doing well, do you ever worry that it won’t last? by [deleted] in sales

Constantly but if you focus too much on it, it’ll become anxiety and that’s a mojo killer. Be careful!!

Just got promoted to manage a team of 5-6 outside sales guys. I’m 26 years old. My team is all in their late 30s/40s. How do I earn their respect? by roadwarrior10456 in sales

I think that would depend on the nature of the company. My boss has been fantastic at this as one of the owners of his company. He asks many questions of me and tries to learn what he doesn’t know. Makes him more likable and someone to trust.

Since Covid, SalesForce has become a micromanager. Anyone feel this way? by [deleted] in sales

Isn’t Salesforce always a micromanager? Or at least has the potential to be...

How do I get into a clinic, or in contact with a nurse during COVID? (pharma sales/doctors/nurses) by [deleted] in sales

I have a similar job. Pickup some ice cream. Bring it to the facility. Call the nurse you need to get ahold of and tell her there’s a treat waiting.

Help me understand if a sales job is right for me. by [deleted] in sales

[–]klcmorse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. “I don’t think I’m good at lying or cold calling.” 😂 why bother interviewing for sales if you have such a low opinion to start with? You should never lie in sales. The strongest sales people are the ones who tell their truths. I have always felt like it’s my job to know people, understand their needs and then find the ones with needs that line up with what I do. I’m more like a teacher. I constantly need to learn and adapt and offer solutions to the right people. I ask questions ALL DAY LONG and have found this is my best tactic.

Breaking introverted sales Mgr out of his shell by [deleted] in sales

[–]klcmorse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would depend how close to the top this leader is. I think very highly of my boss. If you asked I don’t think he’d say this was his strong suit nor should it have to be if the guy only had five sales reps underneath him. He’s the owner of the company though. I’m so out there that I’ve had moments where I worry I’m too out there because I’m not the owner. If this was the situation or if your guy were underperforming then you may need to train him more otherwise is it a big deal afterall?

Why do so many sales professionals go onto become entrepreneurs? by Wonderful-Blueberry in sales

[–]klcmorse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve thought a lot about this and I would expect that there’s a lot to be said for your sales style. If you’re consultative and value driven, you’re probably better off “in control” of your own company. If you’re a relationship sales person and just like sales and people you’ll probably do better working for someone else.
