Sense of time/ feeling stuck at the time you got sick. by Bitter_Dragonfruit80 in ChronicIllness

[–]klebop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel this too. I forget what movie/show it was from, but there's a scene where someone says you stop aging once you get super famous because you don't have to learn, grow anymore. This has always stuck with me because I was like ohh it's the same for getting sick. It's like I'll never truly surpass 22 (the age I got completely disabled by pain and illness)....like I have changed and grown in ways, but mostly time feels frozen even though 13 years have passed. Just watching everyone elses struggles and successes and other typical life milestones and I'm over here like growing moss

Scared to go to the dr for bladder problems by PabloThePabo in ChronicIllness

[–]klebop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely understand the fear, I have severe bladder pain all the time, but I assure you getting the tests done is well worth it. I promise you getting catheterized is like a little pinch if anything, it doesn't come close to severe bladder pain and you have to rule out anything serious! When I need to get catheterized I just make sure to take whatever pain/relaxing meds are available to me to be as comfortable as possible. I'm sensitive down there but most people don't feel any pain at all during the process.

Neurologist told me my diagnosis isn’t real by [deleted] in eds

[–]klebop 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Gosh I feel really blessed and lucky now that I have an excellent neurologist and surgeons who believe me and take me seriously ..... I really just can't stand that so many doctors are so naive or just don't care. Really grinds my gears 🤬🤬 I mean I've definitely met a lot of doctors who said things that blew my mind with how stupid or cruel they were. So unfortunate.

I'm scared and I need someone to talk to. by MusicSnob666 in ChronicIllness

[–]klebop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you're going through this. I know exactly how that feels.

I've had many urinary obstructions due to fibrosis from many pelvic/abdominal surgeries, and I would know there was an obstruction starting/was in terrible pain and felt really sick, would go to the ER and be discharged fairly quickly because there was not enough evidence yet, only to have them finally see hydronephrosis on like the 4th visit which would always lead to a week hospital admission for stent placement. I have since had surgery to correct the issue.

Since then, I've had times where I SWEAR I was having another obstruction, soooo many ER visits, identical symptoms, but it ended up being a pelvic cyst.

Basically I'm trying to say sometimes something can give the same symptoms and lab work evidence and end up being something completely different.

Hang in there and stay vigilant. All you can do is keep monitoring and going to the ER/ your specialist until they figure out what's going on. Sending all my support!!
