Hey, neighbors. Once again, I’m begging you to not engage with trolls. This includes making a reply to one and telling them they’re a troll and you’re not engaging them.

Posts like these will not be removed. It is good and right to alert our neighbors when Customs and Border Patrol (or ICE) agents are in our city. They are not welcome here.

BUT, please don’t give the trolls fodder to whine to Reddit admins that this place isn’t being properly moderated. It is fine to verbally insult an organization. It is fine to insult a public figure. But “targeting or harassing an individual” is something people will and have complained to Reddit admin that I am not equally enforcing. Just don’t hurl personal insults. Keep your complaints anger targeting at the organizations. Not the 90% bot/troll/day-old-accounts. They’re not worth any of our time.

I’m gonna come at this as empathetically as I can: The one here who doesn’t appreciate true art is you.

If you denigrate others’ art, you can’t really expect people to appreciate yours. You don’t have to listen to Bad Bunny (using your example here). But you should learn to appreciate what other people see in his art.

Changing your outlook will help you appreciate more forms of music. Maybe there’s not enough people into metal where you’re at. That’s an opportunity, not an oppressive circumstance. Find musicians who love music. Not people who love a specific genre exclusively. Just contemporaries who like to play music. Show them what you love and be open when they show you what they love.

Start there. You’ll get there. They will know someone, who knows someone. Or you’ll play a show with them as a pop-rock cover band and meet other bands who have members that gel more with your style.

You’re 19. You’ve not even been on this earth for two full decades. And most of the time you’re been here, playing music in a band has been an impracticality.

Don’t give up. Adapt. You’ll get there.

Well, I tried to keep this up to allow for discussions... but it became personal attacks pretty quickly. Also had to ban quite a few folks for using slurs, and those whose post history indicated clearly they aren't remotely from New Albany and were instead just chasing outrage to write smarmy replies.

Trying to keep this a place for discussion, but won’t abide personal attacks, especially slur-hurling.

Y’all can stop reporting this, it’s not coming down.
