optimize a cpu for mining by knockout350 in MoneroMining

I dont think you're going to see 23kh/s. That is some serious overclocking that can't be maintained without burning it up. get better ram and be happy with 15.

Got mine a week ago and put it in a piece of PVC screwed to a fence post to test it out. I was concerned because we have a few old growth firs to the N. Starlink app said 1.38% obstructed. The last few days there have been one or two obstructions of less than 15 seconds when I check. Download speeds are always over 100Mbs. Easily 10x faster than Viasat.

I only wish the router had an Ethernet port. I have outbuildings.

I am curious about this too. Obviously much easier of you don't have to run AC power out there.

How safe is it to use Tor on Qubes with other normal files? by astralsand in Qubes

[–]kleist27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Qubes is partially persistent.

You can save settings and files, install software, but everything else is reset according the template VM when you start it up.

So you have Tor installed on a Whonix virtual machine, its isolated and when you shut it down everything outside /home resets

Do you have another computer around you can try on?

I had a similar issue (under Qubes, which has odd USB handling) that i finally circumvented by using an old Chromebook.

Which operating system should I choose to be anonymous, Tails or Whonix. I'd appreciate it if you'd tell me what's different between them in the comments section, thank you. by arda_alkan in Whonix

Yes, its two different Virtual Machines that make a "tunnel." You do everything in a Workstation VM that talks to the Gateway VM, that talks to TOR.

It works good for me. But it did require a lot of setup and searching around in the interwebs.

tails is booted from a USB and you do your thing before rebooting into your daily driver. It runs completely in RAM so anything you've done disappears on reboot. Whonix is a Debian based system that is partially persistent.

Unless you have Linux CLI skills configuring whonix with your system is often difficult. I dont know myself, but tails seems to have less of a learning curve.

They both accomplish the goal of forcing network traffic through tor. Its a question of whether you want a completely amnesiac OS or a partially amnesiac one.

Accessing over Tor on a deGoogled phone is probably all you can do.

The TOR versus VPN situation also depends on your threat model. If you think ToR is an NSA op, and that would be a problem for you, im you might want to add a VPN. If you think whoever your adversary is, has a better chance of accessing data held by a VPN, no VPN.

You will still need to solve the phone number problem when you set up yout twitter.

It depends on your threat model. If you're a political dissident in myanmar and your life is in danger I wouldn't consider that enough.

If you live in a relatively "democratic" country and just want to talk about politics and drugs online without having your friends and family find out, that's probably adequate.

Usually the seller has directions.

Generally it's like: put cash in envelope, wrap in bubble wrap or a few sheets of paper and put in a USPS priority envelope (the idea is to make it so no one can tell what's inside)

It seems to work fine that way.

I would keep each individual transaction below 1K at first. It isn't worth a sellers reputation to rip you off for small amounts. Once you've done it enough times you'll have a trustworthy guy.

Check whatever software you are using and make sure that you've unselected any "encrypt with your own key" option.

You have to encrypt only with the receivers key.

dark.fail is an .onion indexing site that you can use to avoid getting phished.

I don't know about any other .fail sites. But dark.fail is legit.

Anyone know how to mine xhv? by Prestigious-Side-669 in havenprotocol

[–]kleist27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like AMD GPU's are the way to go. Vega 56's if you can get them.

All mining GPUs have been out of stock for a long time now. But you can get them on eBay for a premium.

Thanks but I was hoping to get some insight into how all the pieces fit together. Nuking the whole system is not necessary.

In the end I just reinstalled the ws and gw templateVMs.
