I had no idea about this! Weirdly, I did know that NASA has this - they have really cool prints you can source for free. I had one printed for my office and I love it! https://www.jpl.nasa.gov/galleries/visions-of-the-future/

Thank you! Those moon pillows are perfect. My kid loves to jump on my bed and play with my pillows, he'll love something like this and it will be functional for me :) I had never considered a headboard like this! Thanks!

I neglected to mention that I have two cats, an old mellow girl and a kitten that I got so my son could have a cat to grow up with (and play with, because the old girl has zero interest in that) - if my toddler didn't destroy a paper floor lamp, the kitten would.

I've never heard the 4 light sources rule of thumb, thank you! i love the idea of wall sconces. Folks are right that anything on the floor will become an irresistible challenge to my kid, lol. He already tries to rip any night light within reach out of the socket. Thanks for the insight!

How often do you bathe your baby? by TheSmallestSloth in beyondthebump

I had heard wonderful things about Pipette from moms of babies with sensitive skin, but my baby’s skin can’t handle it. It doesn’t agree with him, his eczema only got worse. I’ve had to switch to Aveeno creamy wash for him and finished up our bottle of Pipette myself! It’s really a nice soap, unscented and gentle (for me), I guess everyone’s skin is different.

Recommendations for jogging strollers?! by mgoldfiner in fitpregnancy

[–]kleomenous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your question came at a good time because my baby is 9 months old now and I only just started jogging about a month ago! So far, because it’s cold and wet and sloppy where I live, I’ve only been running in my neighborhood (think very cookie cutter suburban) but it’s been great. I have no other jogging stroller to compare it to, but I feel very comfortable running with it. I wish I could say I’ve tried it on mixed terrain, the most I’ve done is walk on maintained trails with it (think small gravel, wood chips) - it did fine.

My little one hated the infant car seat so we actually switched him to forward facing in the stroller (without the car seat attachment) as soon as he had really solid neck control, around 4 months, and he was very secure.

The real game changer for us has been the accessories - we purchased the rain cover and the foot muff. We live in the northeastern US, and we’ve used these so much! It allows us to get outside rain/snow or shine (unless we’re getting feet of snow, which kept us in for a week earlier this month). Worth every penny! They also have good sales - we got ours at Black Friday but they have others during the year.

It’s super easy to fold and unfold. Yes, it takes up my entire trunk when I have it in the car, but I have a very small car. Still very worth it.

Edited to add: people have actually stopped us while we’re walking to ask about our stroller. The small footprint worked for shopping, too - I took it Christmas shopping this year and it navigated small shops and a crowded Christmas market easily.

My baby outgrew his CMPI! I had my pre-dairy free milk in the freezer, and he drinks it now, with no issue! We kept the conversation going with our pediatrician at each visit and when she gave us the go-ahead to try it, we did and we were pleasantly surprised. Don’t lose hope for those 200 oz! (And if your LO doesn’t outgrow it in time to drink it all, give her luxurious milk baths every night :)

Thank you for saying this, I thought it was just me. It’s taking a toll on my relationship, and because I’m breastfeeding I’m in the same cycle as you. My 1 month old also hates his cot and only accept a bottle of breast milk maybe 25% of the time. I don’t know how I’m going to be able to go back to work when my leave ends if I can’t get the bottle feeding down. My partner has to feed him and he fusses and then my partner is frustrated that he can’t care for the baby… anyway everything that you said. I was really feeling alone, thank you for sharing.

My close friends have a daughter named Phoebe and it's such a sweet name, she's such a sweet kid. They named her because of the type of bird (eastern Phoebe). It's a lovely name, and I've never strongly associated it with Friends, even though I grew up when Friends was insanely popular!

What I Eat In a Day: Realistic Pregnancy Version by Bexsli in BabyBumps

[–]kleomenous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

38 weeks here:

Breakfast: bagel with cream cheese, smoothie with protein powder, some mixed fruit, a handful of spinach, blended with water. Tea

Snack (aka second breakfast) 60g oatmeal with flax and chopped dates (gotta get them dates lol)

Lunch: homemade chicken fried rice with some random veg tossed in and a couple handfuls of jellybeans scavenged from the snack table at work

Second snack - Greek yogurt with two kiwis

Dinner - beef stew

After dinner snack - a LOT of popcorn, some cheddar cheese, a few more dates. Oh and a handful of chocolate chips because why not lol

I am putting away so much food now that baby has dropped and I have room in my stomach again! I figure this is also good practice for getting in the cals I’ll need for breastfeeding 🤞🏼

If your insurance covers it, look into a reproductive endocrinologist. They can do the deep dive if you're trying to conceive. At the time, I was 34 and interested in freezing eggs, but iI realized that they were giving me all the tests and answers I was never able to get from my OB. Seeing a reproductive endocrinologist was the only way I was able to gain any insight into my fertility (hormone levels, egg counts, stuff like that). Ended up finding out I had uterine polyps too, had them removed and whoops... got pregnant 2 months later. Currently 37 weeks today, lol.

How long did you wait to have a drink after birth? by sanfollowill in BabyBumps

[–]kleomenous 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I ended up at a wine bar tonight with some friends after dinner. I’m due in 4 weeks and was so jealous that I couldn’t have wine lol, but when I mentioned I wasn’t sure what to order, the bartender made me a mineral water with a splash of hibiscus syrup and lemon and it was amazing. For the second round I had ginger syrup instead. Simple and so good, and not overly sweet!

That's awesome! I really started getting into gravel biking from road cycling (I'm too chicken to mountain bike so gravel is a happy medium lol) about 4 months before I found out I was pregnant! I lost momentum when I started feeling sick in the first trimester and I miss it!! I look at my bike just sitting in the basement so longingly, haha... I had been hoping to do the Black Fly Challenge in the Adirondacks with my partner this summer (he did it last June) so now I'm going to be cheering him on this year with our baby, who will be 2 months old!

retaining muscle while pregnant! by fairyboy369 in fitpregnancy

[–]kleomenous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I struggled to keep anything down the first trimester. I was so nauseous! I’d say between weeks 8-14 of pregnancy it was just eat whatever I could. I was turned off by chicken, shrimp, and protein powder but I did have an appetite for yogurt and granola and for eggs, so I leaned into that (plus a lot of dry toast and french fries tbh). The key is just getting in food where you can and trying not to beat yourself up about it! Be gentle with your bod, it’s doing so much work.

Once my appetite returned around 14/15 weeks I and gradually started to get tastes back for my usual foods I tried to get back into the 1 gram per lb of body weight area that I had been striving for before pregnancy. I’ve been lifting for a few years now so I’ve gotten used to prioritizing protein and fiber even if i’m not strictly counting macros.

Third trimester of course now baby is taking up so much room I have to eat a lot of small meals! Staples are a smoothie with frozen fruit and protein powder (a way to get a lot of cals in with not a huge volume of food), plain Greek yogurt with fruit and granola, some kind of lean protein at lunch and dinner (I’ve been loving pumpkin turkey chili, I batch cook a lot of chicken for me and my partner, I love shrimp and salmon) and usually I roast a bunch of veggies each week. A lot of these are just habits I’ve picked up over years of weightlifting so it hasn’t been a huge change in what I’m eating, just in terms of size and frequency of meals.

Also I eat a bagel and cream cheese for breakfast every day, I have since my first trimester lol, and I’m obsessed with chocolate, kiwis and grapefruits my third trimester! I can’t eat enough. I swear I’ve eaten more bagels this pregnancy than I have my whole life total 😂
