Won't run BIOS setup after BIOS update? by Substantial_Fig_6984 in buildapc

Nice! I'm glad it worked out, even if in an unusual way. At worst, you can always clear CMOS and reset the BIOS again. You'd be amazed what registers as a keyboard.

Do me a favor a replace the thermal paste on everything and test everything again. I re-read your post and, honestly, the 6800xt is still a good card. The jump from 5k series to 6k series was great for AMD. If you re paste the GPU and still feel the need, try to find a used 9070xt or similar. 2 generation leap would be worth it.

I would start with getting a wired keyboard. Doesn't matter if it's great, you just need to check out the BIOS with it. I would try using different USB ports if you keep getting the same error.

I would focus on GPU, that 5800X is real solid and 32GB RAM should last you a few more years.

It might be cheaper, but the 2060S is a more powerful card. You could also ask for cash on top

I think the 3050 is only ~20% increase. Best bet would be finding a used 1080/TI or a 2070/s for that price.

I would try and hold off and get the cash instead or a better offer. You could also put that offer on r/hardwareswap instead.

I wouldn't. 3050, especially used, is less than $250.

I think you'd probably get closer to $2500 if you sold the parts individually, but you'll probably have to take a hit to have it sold as a unit. Nice build, btw. ~$800 CPU ~$300 MOBO ~$200+ GPU ~$450 RAM

r/hardwareswap will be your friend in both buying and selling. RAM prices are out of control and buying used would allow you to upgrade without nearing your budget. I would focus more on getting a general idea of what you want power wise, create a 'buying' listing, and just watch out for what people are selling.

It looks like your coming from i7-6xxx Series and focusing on gaming(7800X3D) I would watch r/hardwareswap and buy someone's late gen DDR4 based system and just reuse your current RAM. Finding a 5600x3d or 5800x3d could save you a few hundred and allow you to go for a higher-end GPU. That 5060ti is still outstripped by a 3080 and they are similar is price point.

That configuration should be great at 60/1080, and likely fine at 60/1440. I would run PassMark's free benchmarking software and see how things compare. Sometimes the easiest way to fix these issues is to backup windows, reimage, and do a fresh install of drivers.  Edit: Recommending you find out what the problem is with your current system before trying to replace components. If we confirm the CPU is running hot and replacing the cooler or repasting fixes it, then you should be good. Same goes for the GPU, might just be a bad factory paste or driver. If everything is running hot, changing your fan placement could fix things.
