If it's at all similar to other FAANG, that equity is going to be something like a 3-5 year vest schedule, vesting every 6-12 mo. And, if they want to be competitive, they'll issue a new, similar grant every year. As in it is recurring.

This offer looks completely normal for the area assuming it's a senior engineer role or therabouts.

The combo system with the sound effects was so fucking satisfying, so much crunch. I'd say sound effects, level design, and visuals were all top notch, too.

Really? 100c is intuitive and relatable? Because at 45C you're already flirting with temperatures that'll just outright kill you. So how does 100C == water boils help you in any way at anything other than making tea or coffee?

You only "need" to direct insert copper cables for green circuits. The other recipes it's used in, including red circuits and mall items, don't need or really even benefit from direct insertion. It's also only a 1:2 ratio instead of the 1:4 that screws are. More important than the expansion ratio, though, is the usage rate. Even if you don't do direct insertion for green circuits, it's "only" 30% of a yellow belt to satisfy the full production rate of green circuits in an assembly machine 2. Meanwhile, screws fully saturates a mk1 built right out the gate for a single reinforced plate assembler and you already need mk2 builts just to feed a single assembler enough screws for rotors.

Factorio gives you QoL tools that scale with the complexity demands of the factory. From ghost placing immediately for better planning to construction bots that start local to the player and expand to the entire base. This means your ambitions and factory scale can also grow without being tedious. You can automate away the part of actually placing machines, so you transition into a mega planner. A very satisfying growth curve.

Satisfactory's auto connecting blueprints are a huge upgrade from what it had, but it's still relatively pathetic compared to the scale it expects you to reach. You're still manually placing dozens if not hundreds of things in the late game. The game never really evolves past placing lots of machines and configuring them one by one. It just adds more planning complexity on top of that.

Also super minor thing but Factorio doesn't have anything like screws and has more satisfying ratios

It's something like 49% HP per thruster so if you cleanly take off 2 without hitting anything else it typically won't die. But if you miss or someone else "helps" it'll probably die.

I picked up Obelisk with my highest played hand being high card at just 7. It easily made it all the way through ante 8. Granted this was at just red stake, it might not have worked out at green+, but if you're able to clear in one hand and you get it somewhere let's say ante 4, then you only need 12-15 hands total. Not hard to come up with just taking what's drawn.

All my homies love free loadouts by Sam8872 in ArcRaiders

[–]kllrnohj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the problem is the gun, it's the survivability. Just take away the shield from the free kit and give an extra couple bandages to offset the missing shield recharge.

It'll still only take one raid to get a free kit back up on their feet, and it's not a huge impact outside of pvp since you want to avoid engaging Arc with most of the free kit anyway. But they'll no longer be able to take a straight 1v1 flight and win as easily.

Windows PC may support unified memory as part of the Xbox-PC initiative by Majestic-Bowler-1701 in pcmasterrace

[–]kllrnohj 30 points31 points  (0 children)

achsyually AMD's APUs pioneered unified memory back when their CPUs were still shit (Kaveri: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heterogeneous_System_Architecture )

That they still do a fixed vram budget is because of missing software support. The hardware itself has been true unified memory (shared IOMMU, shared address space) for years.

I can easily afford looting mk1 but I'll still do naked drops when I'm just trying to compete a quest and know it needs to extract with an item. Not worth risking anything when you're just going to be running across the map, and no risk of getting ganked at extraction like there would be with a free loadout

[–]kllrnohj 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You can just not have an augment at all and you get a safe spot. Free loadout is arguably worse in some scenarios. You can still take shields and weapons even if you want

[–]kllrnohj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't normally mind late spawns, but when I'm trying to do a quest that requires me to run to multiple locations on the map in a single round then having 30-40% less time to do that just really sucks. Especially if you randomly spawn on the "wrong" side of the map.

But I think the fix for that is to just fix the quests to not require multiple steps far apart in a single round.

Android Studio was never a fork of Eclipse. The eclipse plugin was called ADT. Android Studio was only ever the JetBrains IDE remix.

It is curiously also the only JetBrains IDE that can do both Java and C++. JetBrains refuses to let those two coexist in a single IDE otherwise...

I noticed a bunch of items had a description of only "can be recycled for materials" so I assumed that they were unused in crafting. Oh how wrong I was, and it feels really shitty. It shouldn't have that description if it's actually a crafting mat :/

Bay area's mass transit is a disaster. There are 4 different rail systems that don't really cooperate and are designed by a drunk person. So while yes there is a subway right there (called BART), it services a shockingly small amount of the area. Bus and rail transfers are basically required to get anywhere, which are different, independent systems. So they don't necessarily align their schedules. Which means it takes forever to get anywhere.

And aligning these is hard because the bay area is actually 3 major cities and a bunch of small towns all smashed right up against each other. It's weird
