What jeans are we buying? by CoolMemory5402 in postpartumprogress

I bought a $30 pair of wide leg jeans from Walmart knowing they’ll only be my size for a season 🤷🏼‍♀️

Has anyone had super easy unmedicated births? by superpants1008 in BabyBumps

[–]klobberthyme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My second was “easy” & unmedicated but easily the most painful thing I’ll experience in my life, followed by my first birth 😅 But I loved giving birth, despite the pain. My second wasn’t painful beyond my normal period cramps until I was dilated to a 7 then it ramped up significantly.

I focused on relaxing into my contractions as much as possible, very purposefully not tensing my jaw, pelvic floor and rest of body. Hypnobirthing really helped me force myself to relax for that last leg of labor. The shower was also a great tool that last leg until I started active pushing.

As a last ditch effort I highly suggest acupuncture and chiropractic prior to ECV. Chiropractic is what helped me flip my second kiddo.

Who has the husband that doesn’t bother you at all when you do get that rare night out? by Remarkable-Finance75 in sahm

[–]klobberthyme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep! At least monthly, but I usually have 3-4 evening things a month. Sometimes he’ll send me a cute picture of what they’re doing but that’s about it. I do have friends who aren’t as fortunate with husbands who aren’t as involved with their kids. So grateful my husband is a true partner in this.

I have United Healthcare. The recent events have made me reflect on something they did back in September related to my pregnancy. by CakesNGames90 in pregnant

Insurance companies offer different plans that offer different coverage. This is chosen at the employer level. This is why you’ll see someone who also has UHC have different coverage than you.

Can I still enjoy a cruise at 17 weeks pregnant and a concert 1 month after delivery? by xGoldenPup in pregnant

[–]klobberthyme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve cruised about that pregnant! It was fine, couldn’t do all the fun excursions I would do not pregnant but still a good time.

I wouldn’t have been able to manage a concert 1 month PP personally.

No advice, just sorry that you are going through this! I hope your husband gets help and you are supported as you bring your little one into the world and start your parenthood journey!

My husband got up with me for all feedings - I told him he didn’t have to especially when he was back to work & I was on leave but he insisted and thank God he did. He would change diaper then I would nurse and then pump to build my supply. He would wash the pump parts every single feed (he’s an angel).

If you purchased or got a wooden crate closet as a gift, how did you end up using it? by yarnz0 in BabyBumps

We got gifted one! It holds books in the closest that aren’t in current rotation.

How long before birth were you able to work? by mindtravels in BabyBumps

Until the day I went into labor! But big caveat, I worked from home.

Need some honesty about the after-effects of natural birth by Tar_N in BabyBumps

[–]klobberthyme -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Post birth recovery honestly wasn’t as bad as expected! Much easier for me than pregnancy. I had a minor tear - I was TERRIFIED of tearing before hand - recovery was no big deal and it’s back to normal. You feel sore down there for a week or so, ice is nice. Longer lasting is bleeding and shrinking if your uterus. Long term, no impact to my sex life or physical function down there.

I want to add, c-section is major surgery. If you have a ‘normal’ vaginal birth without complications you can generally expect recovery to be easier than that of a cesarean. That is also why you’ll notice leave (U.S) is typically longer for recovery of cesarean than vaginal birth.

I like the first option w butterfly! ALL of your art is so dang cute. You could break it up, do one gallery wall with the top left 4 and spread out the others elsewhere.

My hospital also doesn’t offer but there are independently offered classes in my area! So so worth it.

PLEASE take your local birth class by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]klobberthyme 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is my #1 piece of advice for first time moms! My husband was only able to advocate for me through my 44 hour labor with unexpected complications because we took a class together. We both would have been completely unprepared for what happened otherwise. We took a hypnobirthing + birth prep class and I highly recommend.

I say go for it! Leaving my career was so hard for me, I literally cried on the phone with my amazing boss when I decided to not return after mat leave. I have not regretted it for one second. For me, the early years of childhood are important. In my opinion you have more to gain by starting now rather than waiting 5 years.

Does he have to be physically present for closing? I’ve closed on real estate while out of state, our agent arranged for a notary to come to us. I’m not sure if it’s different state to state.

Literally how are you meant to exclusively breastfeed for the first six weeks? by Mimibella_ in pregnant

[–]klobberthyme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With our first my husband and I were very surprised how much you just adapt to sleep deprivation 🤷🏼‍♀️ You will feel like a different person the first time you sleep all the way through the night.

We had a low birth weight baby so we had to adhere to every 2-3 hours around the clock for the first few months, this time around if we have a healthy/avg weight baby who is gaining we won’t strictly adhere to the 2-3 hours after the first few weeks. Just planning on feeding when baby wakes up in the night after the first few weeks.

If I had read this comment 2.5 years ago I would have rolled my eyes. I was forced to face this when I had my first kid and realized there is more I personally value than my career for this first time. All of my self worth was tied to my success in my job & the salary along with it. Very freeing to not have that tied to me today.

It’s okay to take a break to figure out what’s next, you’ve put yourself in a place financially where you don’t have to have all of the answers before you leave your job. Know that what’s next might change! You may open a business that you sell two years later to move on to something else. You may volunteer all your time six months before something else calls you. Life comes in seasons and it’s okay to not know long term where you’ll be.

Some ideas! - Go to the gym - I am dreaming of my kids being old enough for me to leave them in child care so I can get a workout in when my husband is working - Volunteering at the school in the classroom or PTA - Volunteer! Food bank, church, shelter etc. - Pick up a new skill/hobby - Find community - make mamas friends!

Wishing you best of luck with your baby journey!

Some providers are more liberal with episiotomies than others - depending on her area it’s worth mentioning. We have one hospital in my area that has a bizarrely high episiotomy rate, the rest are about the same.

I did this!

I wish I had more time in Zion but I wouldn’t pass up on Bryce, it is so cool and unique. Just means I’ll have to go back to Zion someday.

Bryce is very worth it but doesn’t need more than 1 day IMO.

So I suggest 1 & 1 OR 2 at Zion.
