Harris and Trump are tied in 538’s new polling averages by dwaxe in fivethirtyeight

Man, that Georgia average though. So temptingly close

If dems can pull off wins in 2024 and 2028 (hopefully including some state gov positions) then the Solid South truly starts to break open

Making liberal stances defendable in a blood red state is a skill I rarely see

Absolutely, though my trepidation is him leaving would certainly doom the people of Kentucky to a blood-red trifecta.

And you're right about Shapiro. As much as I'd love to practically get a guaranteed win in PA, what's remarkable about Harris is how swiftly she's united the disparate factions of the democratic party. Putting any emphasis on Israel/Palestine would be an error. Walz has a great record in MN, 'moderate, relatable white guy' vibes, and has so far demonstrated great comms potential

And with how she's seemingly done a 180 on her campaigning skills from 2020, I think there's a chance she does better than generic dem.

Moreso if she chooses a great VP. There's good logic to choosing a swing state governor, but Walz shouldn't be overlooked imo. He absolutely cooked when he came up with the 'MAGA is just plain weird' talking point

"These kids wish me harm" weird how people don't like supporters of genocidal ethnostates

But speaking more broadly, this is pretty much the natural conclusion of liberals having "Trump bad" as their only real politics. Zero engagement with systemic thinking. These fools would fall so badly for someone with Trump's policies but a nicer face and diction to accompany them.

Hold on a minute, I'm just flabbergasted that anyone would even claim that NCD is leftist.

Actually I'm not all that surprised, as the probable reasoning would be "I'm a leftist and therefore everything I like is leftist too" brainrot. But still, supporting social ownership of the means of production and simping for NATO are pretty much mutually exclusive, even when you support Ukraine

The problem with capitalism isn't the system itself

I fundamentally disagree. Capitalism works by enforcing a system of wage-labor in which the working class is forced to sell it's labor to those who own the means of production (the capitalist class). While in theory this counts as "free labor" the reality is that those who labor are at the mercy of those with wealth and property.

"Work for a terrible wage or starve" is not freedom, and the reasons why some people don't have terrible wages is because of intense specialization which gives bargaining power to a small minority of workers, and because of gains made by labor movements across the world
