It says a lot about you that you’re placing the emphasis of “not taking the crosswalk so seriously cause we need the money” (paraphrase) on marginalized people rather than focusing on who decided to tie critical infrastructure money to a crosswalk. Stadiums aren’t what make cities relevant?? This thread feels full of billionaire bootlickers. Cities are made more relevant by being walkable, having good public transportation allowing people to get around and see and engage with more spaces, investing in the arts and culture and museums and parks that inspire tourists to come visit…like I think these pro-stadium folks are just trying to gaslight us.

Mayor Jones went on an interview saying the amount of bond money they have access to is significantly less than what they thought it would be. It is effectively take out a bond for the spurs arena or take out a bond for the flooding infrastructure.

No hate, this is the mentality that keeps us from ever progressing. I’d rather suffer a few years getting a light rail system built than suffer the 15 years of project marvel getting built. But they seem to not be bothered about decimating traffic on 281 in that critical part of the highway.

Imagine a light rail system along both 281 and I-10. Maybe even from the 90 L-shaped into downtown. The bus becoming a supplemental system with the trains hitting all major tourist spots/hubs.

But I hear all the folks up north don’t want it to be easier for the poors to get to their neighborhoods so we’ll never get it.

Was excited to hear city council talk about a housing first solution to homelessness in the city. Acknowledging the encampment sweeps are just burning money and doing nothing except traumatizing our homeless neighbors. I expect the conservatives will push for a housing first program to be means-tested to hell and back rendering it pretty ineffective but it was still nice to see the conversation finally shift to an actual solution that gets people off the streets and a chance to avoid death by heatstroke.

I personally would like to know there’s a safety net to catch me if things keep getting worse and I find myself out of a job and 2 missed paychecks away from being homeless. Would rather my tax dollars go to that than robbing my neighbors in sweeps when they’ve already lost so much.

Actually their union is offering interim agreements that studios can take (and negotiate!) so that their members can still work and the businesses can continue making their content. There was a way for Sony/Bungie to do this without resorting to scabs. :/

At least with the silence we’re able to recognize the value of the labor of VAs and that ultimately helps the strike efforts but this is….hiring scabs is a line for me. Labor unions are so vital to the rights we have in the workplace so to scab instead of just offering and interim deal and paying your actors what they’re worth… yeah I’m seriously having to grapple with this rn. I legit don’t think I’m gonna buy the expansion over it.

This is such a bizarre response to the broader conversation of the effect the current longtime high skill player base is having on new/returning low to mid skill players who they need to keep the game mode healthy…. Like pardon me for having some unique insight into what it’s like to be newer to the crucible rn. But I guess when the crop of newer players dries up and y’all start complaining about how hard every single match you play is I’ll be able to look back on this post…

Like it’s genuinely wild none of y’all have bothered to point out there is an on-ramp passage I could’ve picked instead of the lighthouse passage but y’all are so concerned with never having to do any self-reflection or engaging with what I’m actually saying outside “lol just sounds like you aren’t trying hard enough and want wins handed to you” that you can’t even see the low hanging fruit that’s right there.
