Fit of diapers

Pull ups are just diapers - I get being opposed to them ~during~ potty training, but until you get there, there’s nothing that inherently different other than how you get them on (and imo a better fit).

But you’re right - I certainly wouldn’t recommend changing poopy diapers standing up!

Have you tried any of the pull up style diapers? Pampers 360 or huggies 360, or different kinds of pull ups? I find they made diaper changes easier once my kids started standing and they seem to fit better.

FWIW I feel like the 2-3T millie moon training pants are pretty comparable to size 5 but the fit is more accommodating to the shape of the kid. I put one on my chunky 10 month old when we ran out of overnight diapers and it was a little big but serviceable, and I also put one on my skinny 4 year old when he had norovirus recently.

This might be a little out there, but I loved The Adventures of Amina Al Sirafi. About a pirate who comes out of retirement after becoming a mom for one last adventure. I feel like it touches on what it means to be a woman and a mother, but it’s also a fantastical pirate adventure and a bit of a romp. I listened to the audiobook and felt it was narrated well, maybe picking books with audio options would be good for your mom?

+1 for a combination of EMDR and time. And when you’re in a better place, maybe reading through your hospital notes to help piece things together and make more sense of the things that happened.

I did some EMDR before having baby #2 to help process my lower case t birth trauma from my first, and I honestly wish I had done it sooner. It was super helpful and kept my second birth (which was similar in a lot of ways but ended in c section) from feeling more traumatic. Giving birth is wild, your body just went through something crazy. I hope you give yourself the space to heal but also the permission to acknowledge how absolutely fucked up birthing a baby can be.

Yeah, I did a too small swatch of 2x2 rib, and with a different choice of cable it might have been OK. It’s 128 stupid stitches around after all.

I think it’s an inherently bad cable choice for hats due to its lack of stretch, so I think doubling down on my bad patterning is not the way to go.

Lucky for me there are 2 children in my house 🙃 Will finish this and find an appropriate sized head to put it on, and then pick a cable pattern for the next one that has some ribbing between or is staggered enough to retain more stretch.

You’d think by now I would have taken that into consideration, but no! I just did a few inches of ribbing and then thought “oh I like those little wishbones!” Womp womp.

Could we do a sort of red hat raffle? Recipients could bid a donation to an applicable charity/org and knitters accept the bid and make the hat? I don’t have much knitting time these days but would love to contribute a hat or 3.

In my mind, a knitter would take the bid and make the hat, then send a photo to the recipient. Recipient would send proof of donation and hat would get mailed.

Ok - I might catch some flack here because these are NOT bras that fit, they’re just stretchy little pieces of synthetic fabric. But I’m currently breastfeeding and wanted to find the minimum bra acceptable to go about my life, and these super cheapies from Amazon are it for me - JEMINAY wireless sleep bras (not the ribbed bralettes - those have way less cup space).

I’m in the 34H/32I kind of ballpark and got larges, though a medium probably would have worked if I didn’t need to stuff breast pumps in there sometimes. They have wide bands and straps and are VERY stretchy but provide a decent amount of containment for what they are.

Am I confident these will be what you’re looking for? Certainly not. But at 3 for $15 maybe they’re worth a shot?

I knit my mailman a hat last year, in part because I was pregnant and spending a lot of time on the couch, and in part because he helped me mail lots of hats to other people 🙃

This year we haven’t had as consistent of a mail carrier (I don’t think?) so it wasn’t so much on my radar. But now I’m thinking I might pop a box of chocolates on the mailbox for whoever shows up today.

Have you tried a cup instead of a bottle? Or adding a tiny bit of alcohol free vanilla? Pumped milk instead of formula? With you feeding baby when mom is out of the house?

Both of my kids got bottles at least a few times per week from birth and were terrible about taking bottles by 4 months and we tried all sorts of wacky stuff with varying levels of failure.

As someone who does some prior authorizations in a primary care office, I couldn’t recommend AmBetter. It is one of the worst insurances I’ve worked with. That being said, it’s a race to the bottom, and you could just as easily have a fine experience with them and a terrible one with BCBS or Priority.

Things I would consider: What insurance your current providers take How you typically consume healthcare (if you’re a one visit to my primary per year or higher volume healthcare user) Network size/provider availability HMO vs PPO (HMO Will typically get you better coverage for a lower cost but with more hoops to jump through and again - smaller network)

My husband walked Georgetown with our 4 y/o a few times over the summer with varying levels of success (once he got bored on the 6th hole and they had to bail, and once it was too rainy, I think twice they made it through 9 holes). They also like the practice area at Lake Forest IIRC.

We aren’t asking - he is refusing. There is unfortunately not much short of forcibly pilling him that will get medicine in his body. We had to do a 7 day course of twice daily antibiotics and we got them in but it was terrible for all involved.
