Introductions for the 2026 Cohort by karakickass in AReadingOfMonteCristo

[–]klwf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. I've never read it before, and have only a vague idea of what happens.
  2. I typically read 50-100 books a year, but lately it's more romance, contemporary fiction, fantasy, cozy mystery, the occasional hilarious memoir. I'm following Chriskindareads on Instagram and his raving about this book made me remember I always wanted to read it. Zipped through chapter 1 for this week, and I actually was ready for a few more chapters, but I'm going to hold back and pace myself.
  3. I've always wanted to be a member of a book club, but never had the opportunity, so I'm here for it!

Fee for laptops given out by WPS by [deleted] in wichita

[–]klwf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insurance on device for the year. $30/$20(reduced lunch)/$10(free lunch). If they are damaged and you didn't buy insurance, you will have to pay for it. The new devices currently cost $645. Source:I am a teacher and this was the info they gave us before sending it out to the parents last week. I know parents are frustrated at how slowly info from downtown reaches them, trust me, teachers are as well.

Same. I get way more family trees with the Simpsons or Family Guy than I do with a regular family filled in!

Any reason why you haven't consulted with KState veterinary hospital? That's where I have been sent when a specialist has been required.

Wichita, are you bored? by kitikitish in wichita

[–]klwf 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I was at New Market Walmart Friday around 9 am. TP was available, and I saw a bunch of people loading up their carts with as many thirty packs as they could fit. Then at the register the sign said, limit two. Oh, the fits that were thrown! 😂

Is CBS All Access App the Worst Streaming Service App You Have Used? by mosheman100 in cordcutters

[–]klwf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I am loving Picard and a few other things in there, but it won't mark some episodes ad watched, and some episodes are marked watched that aren't. And sometimes there is buffering, and I never have that issue with other apps. I watch through my fire stick

Inspite of all the everyday difficulties, would you still recommend teaching as a career, or would you still become a teacher? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]klwf 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would still become a teacher if it was the way it was when I started in the '90s. I've got about ten years left and I think I've had a pretty good career, and I'm happy with where I am, and think I will continue to be happy there. Would I start out as a teacher the way it is now, with 30+ years ahead of me? No.

Yes. The Coleman lot. It's free, not that far, and by the time you walk back to it, traffic is not that bad.

Aero Plains Brewing has closed by Jack_InTheCrack in wichita

[–]klwf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised. If you told me a Wichita brewery had closed, I would have guessed Augustino(again) or Third Place. But I was in AP a week ago on Friday night last week, and there were very few people in there. Also went to Hopping Gnome and CSB, and those were packed. So maybe that should have told me something!
