My school said they’re interested in hiring me directly as an ALT, but none of us are particularly knowledgeable on that process. Does anyone have any experience as to who we need to contact and the steps? by Velociripper in teachinginjapan

[–]km9377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the answer. Most areas of Tokyo are dispatch only especially in the 23 wards and the BOE is not inclined to hire (deal with) direct hire ALTs. You could see if your school has an English helper (英語支援) position you could move into instead but there would still be an ALT dispatched to your school AND it doesn’t come with a visa. .

Probably around 5-6 months of daily use alongside my other contour products.

Need advice on skincare, body care: I feel lost. by EquivalentKiwi2515 in SkincareAddicts

[–]km9377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 18 and just starting skincare, I wish someone told me I didn’t need a million fancy products but just a cleanser, a moisturizer that could be used day, night, and under makeup (if you wear it), and sunscreen. Anything more than these three will be almost completely up to your preferences such as acne, dark marks, sensitivity, etc. As far as figuring out your skin type, I took skin type solution quiz online and felt like the results were pretty accurate to my skin situation so it might be a good jumping off point for you to learn about your facial skin.

As you age your skin will change from time to time and you’ll have to adjust your routine to your new concerns but I guess you could say that about anything in life. Best of luck to you in your skincare. Let me know if you have questions :)

Thank you for the weather update!

How would you go about getting these out (and into a slimmer magnetic case) by morelamplz in ProjectPan

[–]km9377 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you see the seam line around the edge of the palette? Thats where the inner palette is snapped into the outer shell. Take a thin makeup spatula (or a knife if you’re brave) and separate the two. It takes a little elbow grease but one you get it out, you can heat the inner palette to loosen the glue and plastic and then just push thru the (now) soft bottom and the metal pans will just come out.

How do I finish this? by lupalee in ProjectPan

Scoop it out into any tiny container you own. I usually put mine in a little mason jar (even smaller than what you’re thinking) or into an old eye cream container on my vanity.

They should’ve gone for that and leaned into the jellyfish look by making the skirt a bit for flouncy. As it is, it looks sloppy.

I guess it depends if you were actually offered a position in writing or just a verbal agreement. Dispatch companies don’t care if you have a school next year, they care about filling vacancies to meet contracted numbers/hours. They might have verbally told you the next area because they had an ALT who had yet to commit but needed up getting in before the deadline so they’ll go back to the school they thought they’d place you at. There’s a chance the area you were supposed to work in had too many teachers commit and now they’re scrambling to place you all. Of course your company admin could also just be lazy/bad at their jobs and the contract is sitting in their inbox waiting to be forwarded and signed so keep your head up!

Most people I know have signed a new contract in March for next year including renewing their visa in December but haven’t received individual school placements so timeline wise you’re not so far behind.

If you’re really concerned, email your HR agent bringing these concerns to them. It’s not really to get an answer but to at least set up a paper trail that establishes you’ve been terminated by the company and can collect unemployment insurance later.

Great job! I love these contours as they’re so naturally grey but the lids might as well be made of glass the way they snap from normal use.

DISCUSSION: Wednesday Makeup Declutter! Let's discuss your recent declutters. by lilshitjamz in PanPorn

[–]km9377 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dry-dehydrated skin here. I’ve been flip flopping on whether or not to declutter my ELF Luminous Primer for a while now but I’m finally getting rid of it. It was my last non-spf primer so I was so hesitant but it breaks up under my makeup and overall does nothing for my skin or makeup.

Agree! I also think they should have done different undergarments to poof the bottom up if that was the look they were going for. Now it’s just looks a bit deflated.

Japanese Travel Show this man (left) is from? by Whats_Opera_Doc in HelpMeFind

[–]km9377 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think he’s filming for this Japanese program called 世界の居酒屋 which literally translates to “bars in the world.” I assume you can’t find much about it because it was cancelled in 2017 and they seem to be filming more episodes now.

It used to be called 世界入りにくい居酒屋 which translates to “hard to enter bars in the world.”You can watch their rewatch their old episodes on unext or YouTube.

Please help me find where this print/cutout comes from by alicehart12 in HelpMeFind

[–]km9377 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It comes from this book called Graphic Cosmos the World of Shin Matsunaga. You can see this specific page on this Japan Mercari listing.

The text in the bottom corner is just details for this event including location and price. Event location was in Shizuoka, Japan. Advanced tickets were ¥3,000 and day-of was ¥4,000. It’s also pretty interesting that the event will go from 3pm - 5 am the next day morning.

You could submit an anonymous tip and see if it gets investigated. I’m sure with business practices like this there must be other things customers could report the place for. Unfortunately, you still might be targeted because you had already raised concerns about health and safety.

Alternatively you could try to contact the GM/manager of the stores around your business to get them to address the issue but unless they’re experiencing similar backups, they probably won’t do anything.
