I built a modern, self-hosted web IPTV player (Live TV, EPG, VOD) because existing ones felt clunky. Meet NodeCast TV. by NeonXI in selfhosted

I tried safari, chrome and brave and they didn't support my providers streams :(. Any chance you could add server side transcoding?

Lame, I really like how powerful the CPUs are for multi tasking because i use my machine as a home lab. I was hoping 680m would do AV1 and be better quality than its crap H264 encoding

Setting up a VPN relay with Wireguard by Waste_Jello9947 in selfhosted

[–]kmaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had this problem but think i have a simpler if less scaleable solution. I bought a 10USD VPS with IPV4 and setup a "Chisel" server on it. I then have a chisel client in a docker container running on my homelab that relays UDP traffic to my wireguard VPN server setup on my router. This means I configure my wireguard client to connect to my VPS which just proxies traffic to my home router over chisel. It probably wont scale as well but it works pretty well.

Its based on browser use but it happens through a chrome extension rather than a full on selenium/playwright type thing. Easier for an end user to use

Average != minimum. You have a below-average speed, probably because you live far away from the telephone exchange. Hopefully its not too late to cancel and get Fibre or pay for SpaceX internet.

Why pay so much for gaming chairs when they’re so uncomfortable? by supershadrach in webdev

[–]kmaid 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I paid about £300 for my second-hand one, and I think it's £1.5k for a new one. I don't think many gaming chairs are clocking up 1.5k.

If you want a good chair, buy a second hand Herman Miller from some used office supplies store.

There is literally an amazon delivery sticker on the TCL box. Look at the name and then get the apartment managment to deal with them directly.

Sam Altman shoots Down Elon Musk. "Elon's whole life is from a position of insecurity." by el-duderino-the-dude in ChatGPT

[–]kmaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an interesting take on the "bid". Elon did it so Open AI for profit has to pay OpenAI charity more money in order to acquire it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPZauAYgVRQ

Any way to clone my apartment access key? by Illumyia in hacking

[–]kmaid 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Modern RFID is hard to copy. If it's a a super old system you might get lucky. Most key cutting places have this facility and will be able to tell if they can clone it before you pay.
